I was at that game. After the crap we took from Florida fans in the days leading up to the game, it was a joy for the ND contingent to have Bourbon Street to ourselves after the game.

I was sitting in a bar on New Years Day in Puerto Vallarta working my way back from a late night New Years Eve out at a night club. My friends and I spent the day drinking buckets of Corona and eating buckets of shrimp. What a day! Bettis was a man amongst boys.

That was one of my favorite bowl games of all time. I liked the fact we were big underdogs, but ran it all over Florida, which couldn't stop Bettis, behind our big OL. One of our starting guards BTW, was the late Mirko Jurkovic. He was an excellent college lineman, but for some reason never did much in the pros. RIP.
