Throw Back Saturday 89 ND / Michigan full game

Hard to believe that they were kicking to Rocket because they were more scared of kicking to Ricky.

Could you imagine having a return tandem like that today?

Man I have watched that game 100 times and it never gets old. Seeing Rocket and hearing Jackson make the calls was great. In my opinion, The Rocket was one the best players in college football history but never got the recognition he deserved. A lot had to do with the way Holtz used him and the fact he didn't get to touch the ball as much as he could have. Also could you imagine a kid today who had his kind of production not winning the Heisman, especially if it were an SEC school? They screwed him over just like the refs did in the 1991 Orange Bowl against Colorado... talk about one of the worst calls in college football history you need look no further than that one, especially when it determined the game.

Anyway I will stop ranting lol... great to see this game remembered as well as Rocket in general. There will never be another player like him at ND, he was very special.

Another difference from today, I think ND Stadium was much more intimidating ( I know the 89 michigan game was in AA, but I am just saying). The fans were louder and the place rocked. We need to get that back!
