Tough 1 point loss vs a talented Georgia team last week, but the season is certainly not over yet.

ND fans should be Georgia fans rest of the season. Come playoff time, a 1 point loss to a top ~5 team certainly keeps ND in the discussion.

ND needs BIG point differential vs the mediocre teams and cupcake teams on the schedule.

ND can't afford 1 possession games vs the likes of Miami OH, UNC, MSU, and BC. ND needs to go up big on the poor teams early and make it clear to voters those teams dont belong on the field with them. There should be NO elation if ND requires last possession drives to beat these teams. It won't win the respect of voters even if ND wins out.

In summary:

1. Hope/prey that Georgia is a real FBS playoff contender this season
2. Win out remaining games on schedule
3. Smash poor and mediocre teams to earn the respect of playoff committee voters

And USC continues to dominate until... against the blue grey sky...

Chase is exactly right. We need impressive dominant wins against the teams we're Supposed to beat, and strong showing and victories against the best on our schedule, Miami, USC, any Stanford; while hoping Georgia wins the SEC.

I'm not going to hold my breath. bk has proven over and over again that he cannot win big games.

so far we are getting exactly what we needed:

Georgia just blew out a ranked team by 25+ points. ND has WIDE margin of victory vs rest of their schedule so far. This is the kind of stuff that earns playoff committee votes.

I have been loving your posts lately. ND is developing a killer instinct. Blowing out teams builds confidence, gets more players involved in the game to help development, and like you say will earn more committee votes. Remember in 2015 we dropped after that close win over Boston college? Or when we had a highly ranked Georgia Tech team beaten 30 to 7 with a little over two minutes left and let them close the gap to 30 to 22. And we made Temple look like they were equal to us (won 24 to 21). This year Kelly and staff are actually trying to run up scores---like when they were passing against BC with a minute left.
I think Kelly is mad at all the negative coverage he has gotten this past year (and rightfully so) and is making the college football world pay for it.

*** Also maybe the Irish are just better this year and able to run up scores.

*** I think we will run it up on Miami Ohio next week.
