So far in 2015 GT has out scored opponents 134 to 16.

2015

vs. Alcorn State GT rushed for 476 yds. and passed for 77 yds. and won.

vs. Tulane GT rushed for 439 yds. and passed for 132 yds. and won.

2014

vs. FSU in the ACC Championship 2014 GT rushed for 331 yds. and passed for 134 yds. and lost.

vs. Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl 2014 season GT rushed for 452 yds. and passed for 125 yds. and won.

Any thoughts about what strategy ND can use to slow this juggernaut down as it will be a supreme challenge.

You're wishing this so bad it hurts. Your a flamer, subtle, but still a flamer. You've been talking the same topic for a week or so. Force GT to be a one dimensional offense. Easier said than done.

GT's opponents were from what league?

The fact that this guy keeps on bringing up the same exact topic should alert everyone that he is no friend of this board and this was no innocent question. He is what he is.

Jack,
This is the same dilemma all GT opponents will face. Rest assured al those opponents and their fans will be tuned in to see how ND handles that awesome rushing attack. FSU barely squeaked out a win in the ACCCG last year coming from behind in the final minutes. In that game there was no way to stop GT...........only to out score them. It wasn't so much that GT lost the game as they just ran out of time. Jameis Winston and company did everything they could and was lucky to score the last touchdown. Best of luck as this will be a supreme challenge for any defense.

The answer to your question pure and simple is we are not going to stop Georgia Tech, but hopefully we can limit them. I had thought one way we would do that would be by sustained offensive drives of our own, but with Folston and especially Zaire out for the year, I think that is going to be an impossible task and GT will win by 10-to-17 points.

I'll say this....I thought Joe Schmidt had a terrible game. He over pursued way too frequently and allowed the RB to cut back inside against him.

Kei'Vare has given up at least one huge gain in each game so far. And quite honestly, that could be all it takes against GT to really cost ND.

Redfield's cast cost him an INT yesterday. It's obviously not great when your centerfielder can't catch the ball, and it definitely hurt his ability to tackle as well.

Day and Rochell both are playing very good football. They can't get hurt or else the DL could be in for another long season.

And Jaylon. There aren't words to do him justice. What a special talent.

Duo -

First game vs. Alcorn St. There's nothing more to say about that.

Second game vs. Tulane, which went 3-9 last year. Don't act like GT beat Alabama.

Sure, they know how to run the triple option, but it's not as if they're world-beaters.

The guy is trying to create the illusion that GT are world beaters. By bringing up the same topic several different times in the past week or so, his concern is not how ND will stop GT but more like how he can inflame this board in a subtle way. Not buying it. As was reported by Jack Nolan of und, the Irish "D" has been working on the option since summer. Let's see what happens.

Thanks Jack, at least you have confronted the question. I brought it up because it really is a big deal. GT was 11/3 last year and hammered what had been the #1 team in the nation in the Orange Bowl. GT's offense is like the elephant in the living room for a lot of fans and they really don't want to talk about it. So, like you say, let's see what happens and for other GT opponents let's see what we can learn.

Tech won 11 games last year. They are am excellent team. Its no 'illusion'. They will rip ND to shreds.

Honestly, it's going to be ugly

From the attention-starved idiot who picked us to lose to Texas. Interesting how you didn't post at all after the Texas game and waited until after the Virginia game to post your usual stupidity. Do you honestly believe that anyone on this board thinks you're an ND fan?

With any other offense that decides to run their QB alot, you have to hit him in the face hard and often. Even after he pitches the ball you hit him. Your corners and your backside defensive have to play more disciplined and maintain lanes. Your interior Dlineman have to stop the dive play. And most importantly your offense has to score and not turn the ball over.

More than likely Ga Tech will have turnovers, so you can't give them any field position.

It will be most interesting to see how well the ND defense handles the GT offense. I believe ND has a very good defense despite Virginia's success last weekend. As a FSU fan any defensive game plan that is successful against the GT is worth studying. GT gave FSU all they could handle last year and they absolutely destroyed a Miss St team that was ranked # 1 for several weeks last season. Miss St is well acquainted with these option teams as that is similar to Auburn and what they run. GT is still different in that it is really isn't a spread zone read offense.

This is a must watch game this weekend.

tech just played two cream puff teams and so I have no idea how good they really are on offense this year. tech lost a lot of good playmakers from last years team including rbs and so again there first two games don't tell me a thing about how good they really are going to be or not be. our irish could've at least put up 600 total yards in there first weekend if they were playing alcorn state instead of tech playing them

Going into this game, I really thought we had as much chance to shut down the GT offense as we had to stop Alabama's rushing attack back in 2012. I have been labled a douchebag on another thread because I pointed out the fact that GT scored three TDs despite being absolutely shut down for more than 50 minutes. The point is that that offense is explosive and a couple of missed assignments can yield big gains. And yeah, you can discount the last TD because they executed a nearly perfect onside kick to get the ball back. But they still scored in like 20 seconds.

Where are you Duo? You asked the misleading question how was ND going to stop the GT offense with all their glorified offensive numbers . Now you know. I don't know how the season will end but I do know that BK and staff answered your question even though your prayers weren't answered.
