TOS just had a good article on Delaurier and he had a quote that basically said he liked ND but that they were "late to the party" and the relationships he had built up over the last year with other coached really matters.
Brey has the track record and personality to bring in better recruits to ND, but ND has to move their evaluation schedule up a year. It's pretty hard bringing in top guys when you don't show a lot of interest until this late in the process. With most of the guys we just offered, we just now zoomed in on them and got serious. Some of these guys have been super stars since they were in 8th grade, and ND has to begin zeroing in on this kids as sophmores not juniors. They don't have the luxury of the brand that basketball carries. We have to be the early bird in basketball.
25% of the top 100 have already committed when we sent our offers out. And probably 2/3 of the top 100 have been being recruited really hard for over a year now.
