The Loss Sucks, but I will say this...

Kizer is the real deal. That kid, mistakes and all, shook them off and fought like hell. He's a FRESHMAN playing like a sophomore/Junior. Love this kids confidence, demeanor, moxi. Now if Kelly doesn't screw him up and let him develop and just play....

Yeah I thought he played well. There are a lot of dropped passes too. He just needs to escape towards the sideline rather then back to the middle of the field in my opinion.

Keep in mind that he really didn't take any snaps in the Spring and only took a few snaps after EG left. The lad is playing his butt off and I am damn proud of him. How about the Receivers catch the ball. Does anyone think this is a "W" with MZ at QB?

Yep he would be our third string QB if EG had stayed. DK is growing up before our eyes. He had some high throws and missed some wide open receivers, but he has the ability to shake off. More reps means more knowledge of the game.

IJ to answer your question, I am not sure. MZ brings a run element that DK may not have, but I feel that DK is a better passer.

This loss does suck, but I agree, Kizer looks like a calm and collected QB.

Irish jack, I certainly don't think MZ would have made any difference. Kizer was a bit shaky at times, throwing over recievers, etc., and the turnover. But otherwise, he played his tail off and made good decisions late in the game.

You can turn the ball over 4 times and have that many dropped passes and expect to win. Period. As I said on another thread, its amazing the game wasn't out of hand by mid way through the 3rd.

he is good but if he going to be "great" he has to improve his accuracy big time. also most of his throws are designed plays to a specific receiver and if he has to check down to his 2nd or 3rd option he gets shaky and runs. that one play where robinson dropped the ball he had a guy running free down the field, he doesn't read the field that good but is still learning. I think he will get better and he is a good kid but how good will he get? only time will tell

He played with a ton of heart. The D played with urgency at the end . Hey every second and every play counts . ND played like garbarge for the 1st 5 minutes to go down 14-0 and then gave up another TD off the turnover to go down 21-3 . take away 5 minutes of the game and Nd wins but you cannot do that. I was disappointed in the lack of offense in the 1st half. I do not understand why it took so long to play well.

I remember when we played Miami in the Sun Bowl and it was obvious the "cold" weather affected their play. In fact, some on the board were poking fun on what Miami was wearing. Well, it looked like the Irish players were affected by the weather tonight for at least half the game. I think home field and the crowd distracted Clemson from the weather and that led to the quick start. By the time ND got themselves acclimated, it was catch up big time.

In Kizers defense....his accuracy is off on some throws. But when he comes back the next play and drills a WR in the hands they need to make the catch. He made the plays he needed to make tonight to give ND the chance to win......WAYYYY too many dropped balls. TD pass dropped by Robinson.....Fuller dropped one or two for big conversions, Brown dropped a couple and had a huge fumble on the 1 yard line....... SLOPPY on offense yet still had a chance to win the game. Very impressed that Kizer didn't crumble after throwing the INT on NDs side of the field. Came back and made a game of it. Loss sucks......but I'd rather see a close loss now than to have a heart breaker towards the end of the season

ND did not play good tonight but fought like hell and made it a hell of a game.

i'm proud of this team for not giving up and coming back the way they did. I think they still have a shot at ten or eleven wins this season considering they couldn't run the ball tonight and the with fuller having a bad night but yet they still had a shot at winning

definitely agree, they have a shot at 10 wins plus a bowl win for 11 total. we have to see what kizer does and how the team reacts to this loss. there are good teams besides usc and stanford left and everyone wants to beat us.

Clemson has a hell of a good defense. With bad weather on the road ND played a hell of a good game. Lots of turnovers and ND out gained Clemson 400 plus yards to 280 or so.

The problem is that nobody knows how good Clemson is because nobody knows how good we are yet. Neither team has played a solid opponent except each other so it is hard to figure out. Once USC comes to town it will tell us all we need to know... I don't know Clemson's schedule but I am sure their next big game will be FSU.

Not trying to make excuses for the guy but monsoon rain and wet balls usually make for high throws because you can't always get the wrist snap you need on the ball as it slips coming out of the hand. Wet ball drills are great but only go so far because the rest of the conditions are dry including the bodies of the guys catching the ball during practice.

If the Irish win out from here they should make the playoffs all things considered. The committee will not weight this loss too heavy against them considering it was an away game in hostile environment, QB's first road start, ranked team (that needs to finish strong), driving rain from a hurricane, and the game could've gone in ND's favor at the end.

Kizer should have gone to the sideline and asked, "wtf! you gonna keep running into an 8 man front; you coaches are killing us!"

Watson threw for under 100 yards, but did run for 90+, so both qbs had struggles. Our WR's did not help at many points in the game, but Kizer missed some WIDE open guys, especially on the Robinson drop in the endzone. He had Fuller (I believe) with no one within 10 yards at the same exact spot as Robinson. I have been impressed with Kizer though. Played well in the rain, on the road, in his first road start. Hats off.

I think that we saw this kid grow up in the 4th quarter last night. That display bodes well for us the rest of the way. He is very talented and just fierce. Mind you, this was an away game in a very hostile environment. The loss was gut-wrenching, in that we could have easily won the game. The turnovers and dropped passes were the story of the game on last night. Go Irish!!!!
