can Notre Dame establish a consistent running game on Clemson ?

Next to turnovers, will the ND running game determine the outcome ?

Our running game is certainly a key to victory as well as our defense coming up really big !

No....the most important factor is the Clemson running game.

If we don't make Clemson one dimensional we're in trouble.

If Etienne is getting big chunks of yardage we're doomed. If we make Clemson one dimensional throwing then Gilman will get two picks.

If we can:
1. Limit Clemson big plays
2. Run the ball

We win.

That’s TOUGH to do though. No one has been able to do that to Clemson for years, except Bama.

If you consider the RPOs as an extension of the run game. And if consider throwing the slant off the RPO action part of the run game. I agree.

Even Brian Kelly said ND is not going to line up and bludgeon Clemson, like they did to Stanford & FSU.

But ND must stick with the run game just shy of stubborn.

Yes an no.

ND needs to have a decent between the tackles traditional run game to win. Otherwise the Clemson pass rush is too much.

Kelly was right previously, which was part of the problem. With Lawerence out, that changes quite a bit.

If Wilkins misses any time or is forced to get a breather, ND should have the OL v. DL talent advantage necessary to just line up and run.

But that “if xxx player isn’t in” caveat is why Clemson is the favorite.

They’re even more talented than we are.
