The incredible shrinking recruits...

Look let me start by saying it is a well known fact that many kids shrink and get slower from high school recruiting sites until they reach College and then again in the NFL.

But...in case you were wondering the early enrollees have all shrunk a little bit in height and or weight.

average all major sites: subtract 2" and 20 lbs.

but, each and every recruit was visited by a staff member; Studstill and Perry are surpising. Steph was said to be 5'11 or so from the getgo.

Happens in every class.
I assure you Gary, will arrive somwhere, and as billed! The really elite of elite don't exaggerate stats, they don't have to.

That stuff continues all through their career.

It's all BS. Plus or minus in the weight department and always more height than real.
Do you think Jerome Bettis was 252# towards the end of his career? LOL...maybe plus 20# or so.

There are some players who's stats are legitimate but a while bunch who's numbers are ballooned, shrunk, stretched....etc.

Even in the NFL the height and weight listings can be stretched. I remember Jeff Garcia when he was playing with the Niners was laughing when he was once listed as 6'3" 210. He was really about 5'10" 185.

seems to me, you can tell if a kid is 6'1 vs 6'3 with the 'eyes on' test. You don't need a yard stick for that!

You put the info on your own resume, most times this info comes from high school coaches or other third parties.

Actually this does tend to happen over time! I was at a 40 year reunion for the last college team I played for and many of the guys were shorter than the had been, but then again they were still pretty quick[to the bar that is.]I wonder if any of these new signees are losing hair yet?[smile]

agree, but you could correct it. The staff has met these kids and their vitals are no shock to them.

btw: Hayes may have lost some excess useless wt. to replace it with more muscle wt.
