For whatever its worth.....Just seen where Bryant made an instagram post to/about Malik Zaire saying "I gotta get back to continue what we started!"

Surely he isn't thinking of trying to come back? Unless he made huge strides he may not even be top 3 RB if he tried to.

I think that is a pretty unfair thing to say. He was second behind Folston when he was declared academically ineligible. He has the skills to be a top running back. He would certainly be top three coming into camp.

We have all seen what can happen to a depth chart due to injury, transfers, academic issues etc... Think of it this way, if he had gotten a letter grade better score during his summer class, he would probably be the second back at this point; and we would all feel much better about the depth at running back. If he wants to come back, and he becomes academically eligible, there is no reason not to bring him back on the team.

There was nothing unfair about what I said. I never implied he shouldn't come back or that he cant. It's 100% fairness if he comes and wins a spot......but if these freshman become seasoned, and it looks like they won't have much of a choice due to the reps they are going to get, then they may become hard to beat out for a spot come next year. He has the skills to be a great back.....but he has problems with wanting to use East and West more than North and South and to me that seems like what held him back the most when he got the ball....too much razzle dazzle and not enough turning it up the field.

Greg Bryant has three issues......is he doing something (or does he need to do something) in order to enroll again at Notre Dame for the spring / winter semester? Does he still have a scholarship? If he comes back is Kelly willing to let him back on the team? I think it would have been much smarter of Greg to stay at Notre Dame this fall and if he could not cut it in the classroom then to leave in the spring to sign and play somewhere else and get in their spring practice drills etc.

And he has to stop smoking dope.

He wasn't even going to be elgible until week 5. No thanks on a Bryant return.

If he gets his act together, great. We could always use more depth at RB.

Shark lets be honest here. Everyone would feel much better right now with a Procise and Bryant combo. BK has no faith just yet in those 2 frosh to play in a close game. That is evident in the Virginia game. I think Bryant is a really good back . Heck if he wants to come back to ND and has done what he need to do then all the power to him. seeing his " brothers" go down has to have some impact on that young man. He does not sound like a bitter kid at all. He made no excuses for his misdoings at all. From what I was told and I have a very good source on the juco level he left to keep playing competitively as well as open up some opportunities. I think he sees next year a like a comeback year for him Folston and Zaire. a new "beginning" for him at ND is not out of the possibility.

He was clearly third after spring ball. CJ was ahead of him.

Not trying to take you down sharkfan. We agree that he has the skills to win a top two spot, and I think he should be welcomed back if he does the things he needs to do to be eligible. He was the second back coming into spring ball. He has great talent. Get it all together, come back to ND, and make your mark Greg.

Well yea....for anyone to say that they wouldn't like to see Bryant there right now would be crazy. I'm sure most if not all would love to have him back. However, even if he was still at ND he wouldn't be playing for a few more games due to his suspension anyhow. If he gets his act together I would like to see him come back.....but if he's going to come back only to let his teammates down right before season starts with everyone expecting and needing him to contribute to fulfill the aspirations of the team, then I feel like the Irish would be as well off without him altogether. Just seems a bit selfish to me to do things that put your team in jeopardy...but again this merely my opinion which doesn't account for anything at all. Keep his nose clean, keep his grades up and earn a degree most importantly, and play ball. You know what your getting into when you sign with ND.
