was nice to see us extend Texas losing skid to 3 games...

(48-7 loss to TCU, 31-7 loss to Arkansas - Texas Bowl)

Texas is reeling as Strong continues to clean house.

It was painful to lose Folston. He was poised for a break out season and was a horse we could ride deep into this season imo. (Folston Ishaq, Bryant, Golson..... all gone)

We are going to miss his bruising/punishing ways. I guess the silver lining is that he'll medical red shirt. Plus, recovery from that injury is a lot better now...

Prosise showed great agility, Josh Adams definitely shook down the thunder and getting Dexter Williams in the mix will help. Great debut for the youngsters.....

Special teams continue to be a sore spot (ball kicked ob after score, indecisive end zone knee, punt return issues..... kelly did a great job of squelching any momentum by throttling their st's with 2 timeouts... (I will be watching the game again today or tomorrow, but that's what I remember...)

This was the start we were looking for and we need to build off the momentum. I'd love to know the play calling mix participation by coaches. I'm hoping that this game was heavily weighted towards Sanford (80+%) making the calls....

Lyght, Denson, Heistand, Van Gorder, others.... all did a great job and appear to be good "governors" for kelly.

I'm hoping that kelly was able to establish rapport with the refs and that he pointed out the missed face mask, missed helmet targeting while thanking them for no delay of game... He did a good job screaming about the missed face mask.

If kelly can consistently stick to physical football up front on both sides of the ball he'll keep this ship steady.

PS imo The best play of the game was Redfield attacking a guy twice his size while standing up for a team mate. I'm still scratching my head over Zaire's not getting significant action earlier last year. Lastly, I am very worried about Zaire remaining healthy. UCLA's Josh Rosen survived a massive crack back late cheap shot. It's an unfortunate part of the game. Kizer and Wimbush need to come up the curve quickly. I wouldn't worry about burning a red shirt year on Wimbush. I'd try to get him in the mix asap....

Yes, one of the few times ND looked like they knew what they were doing from the opening kickoff. Well done!

(Hope Texas was not as bad as they looked. Even the Longhorn fans were surprised)

Agreed. There are still plenty of bolts to tighten, but that's the start we wanted.

PS Howard Hall has always been among my favorite dorms on campus. It's a throwback....

no head scratching needed. zaire himself said he didn"t put in the necessary work needed to see the field most of last year. he bought in and the results are showing. it's amazing how much better a coachs performance is perceived when his team doesn't turn the ball over.

Here's what Zaire said this summer about dealing with a stacked deck and quite frankly I like his candor.... I believe you may be referencing his remarks relating to the 2013 season when Golson was out and Zaire was competing vs Rees and Hendrix......

Last year, Zaire felt hosed by kelly and stated as much.... Good for him.

Zaire expected to play. 2013

When he entered his first season in South Bend in 2013, the true freshman quarterback was slotted on the depth chart behind more experienced seniors Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix.

“I got my reps here and there. I wish I could have gotten more, but whatever,” Zaire says, occasionally stopping to take a sip of water. “Summer came, and I didn’t know what my position was (on the depth chart). I wasn’t ready, but I thought I’d get a chance to play.”

Zaire expected to play. 2014

“I thought I would have a chance to start, and it wasn’t like that at all,” Zaire says. “It was like an unwritten thing, ‘He’s going to be the guy.’ You can’t say there’s going to be a quarterback competition and then decide three days into camp that he (Golson) won the position.

“I didn’t have an opportunity then, because I didn’t even run first-team reps. He was running everything with the first team, and then coach Kelly said, ‘All right, he won the starting job.’ That isn’t a competition. He was meant to win from the beginning.”

“When I walk on the field, I honestly believe I’m the best guy out there,” Zaire says flatly. “There is no better player than me on the field. I know I can get it done. That’s what keeps me focused, knowing that these guys are looking at me to run the show. You have to perform when you’re asked to perform, and that comes down to confidence. If you’re not confident, why are you out there?”

“I knew that I had to believe in myself when all of this stuff was going on and I wasn’t getting reps. I was getting cussed out and embarrassed and belittled every day by the coaches and looked down upon by the players, because they didn’t know. They just assumed because I didn’t have a good rep, that I wasn’t good. It’s just that constant belief in myself that I knew I was better than people were making me seem that kept me going."

Saturday is a building block to what could be a great season if we remain steady and committed to physical football.....

'12 oklahoma is a solid blue print. '15 Texas too.....

'14 fsu was excellent too and very different. It was very well called with a reliability on heavy passing due to the opposition....

Snap shot examples of poorly called game examples:
Tulsa 56 passes 24 rushing
South Fl 49 passes 29 rushes

Sometimes Malik sounds like a kid that has to manufacture a struggle or a villain to fight through or against. His confidence borders on arrogance.

Anyone who listens to what a backup players says is a pea brain. Cgvr is a big time jock sniffer.

BK seems to coach very well when he has a first year starting QB. He doesn't try to get too fancy or out-scheme himself. IMO, he could have won a lot more games over the last five years if he would have coached to 'team strength' rather than 'player strength'.

Quite frankly one of the many reasons why lots of players are friends with me is because I am not....

Crowded room Dillon Dave Huffman holding court ....it's my first time meeting him and we're partying.

Him, "All the men are from Texas".

Me, "F yourself."

Room in total Grey Poupon melt down awaiting Huff's response.

He starts laughing, "You know what? I like this guy...."

Try playing tackle football with that animal on the Burke Memorial golf course in 2-3 feet of snow....

One thing I know is most athletes can smell a kiss ass a mile away. It's fun to watch.

What you are doing here is called "projecting".....

I am quite certain you and your very limited knowledge about football are in that kiss ass club.

You're nothing more than a wannabe sub alum twerp that gives sub alums a bad name. Congrats.

^^^^^Is this another one of cgmr's stories about his "friends" peeing on him?^^^^^^

Haha. We've heard em' all from CGVR.

"So this one time, Coach Holtz was at my house"

"Since I'm best friends with the Rocket"

"I was college roommates with Reggie Brooks".

It never stops......

Thanks for sharing that awesome conversation It made my day though I didn't bother to read it.
Cgvr is a jocks sniffer, named dropper Harbaugh stalker, Kelly hater and probably last one chosen in the pick-up game. Did I leave anything out?

I never said any of those things, but I am glad you are having fun.

However, I do recall argus saying he had lunch with Holtz, was "hopnored at halftime" of a game.....

Yeah, I spent a lot of time with Bill Walsh, John Wooden, Rick Pitino.... other top coaches....

Harbaugh's resume speaks for itself. It dwarfs kelly's.

Would anyone care to discuss the incredibly legendary football games kelly coached against the likes of CW Post, Mercyhurst, Findlay, Hillsdale.... during his only undefeated season ('02)?

"Whoopdy darn do...."

Factoid: Chuck Martin put together back to back undefeated D II seasons at GVSU which is something Kelly never did...

PS Harbaugh's won major bowl games as a player and coach...

I and many other alumni don't like kelly as a person or a coach and that's on him. (Hate is too strong a word...)

That can change for me, but he'll need to evolve.

The addition of Lyght and Denson will help him big time....

Why do you think Lyght and Denson will make a big difference? I don't have an opinion either way, but I think its blind faith to say they will make a big difference. They have very minimal coaching résumés (not that they can't still be great coaches).

A lot of nice things happening in Saturday's game. For the most part, the OL was getting a great push. It was good to see McGlinchey adjust a little after halftime to get some contact on the guys coming off the edge.

I like the way Prosise runs after contact, but does it seem like running plays develop a little more slowly when he's got the ball?

Lyght and Denson both bring invaluable experience starting with their knowledge of what it means to be a successful student athlete at Notre Dame. They’ve lived and breathed it. It’s different and it’s real. As Alumni they will be able to speak passionately and with personal knowledge of what it takes to flourish in that environment. That experience works with both players and the current coaching staff.

Lyght was a first round (5th pick) and had a 12 year NFL career. He was NFL Rookie of the year, made the pro bowl, was all pro, all American 2 years and has a vast wealth of knowledge. He’s been involved in coaching since 2009 and was with the Eagles, Oregon….. His experience at the highest level of the game can’t be discounted. He’s done what everyone on the team aspires to do…..

Denson is ND’s all time leading rusher and has 5 years of professional experience with the buccaneers, Dolphins, Bears, Colts & Alouettes. He has been involved in coaching since 2010 which includes stints at Bethune-Cookman and Miami Ohio.

imo Their ND alumni status along with their other football accomplishments take this out of the blind faith category...

We’re lucky to have both…..

I am really happy with Prosise agility. He also has the ability to move the pile. I didn't know he had that much "shiftiness." What you may be seeing is Prosise giving the line enough time to establish contact before hitting a gap. I didn't notice what you are describing and will look for it against VA.

McGlinchey played real well. There was one play though where he let the LB slip through and the LB almost killed Adams. McGlinchey decided to double team a linemen not knowing that an ND player had vacated behind him. Adams took a heavy shot.

This line has the potential to be real special if we embrace violent football....

PS Nelson is a punishing wall. He got in rolling on one play, knocked/buried a LB to the ground and then dove on him. It was beautiful....

Above all else cgvr has demonstrated that he is a total POS.

His rhetoric of hate directed at ND, some players and most coaches is clear and his lack of football knowledge exposes him as a fraud who should be laughed off.

Well obviously you would have examples to support this post. Let's see them. The good news is one of us has a diploma from ND and it's not you......

the above poster claims to be a nd grad. I can believe they may have attended the below nd, but I don't believe the poster graduated. I would need to see proof that he attended even this one. This is all based on the intelligence of his posts. It's more likely he just creeps around the walls outside trying to peek in.

Notre Dame Academy a private, all-girls Catholic High School located in West Los Angeles, California.

It really doesn't matter what you and all your other handles believe. Btw I have 2 HOF NFL rb's on my cell phone.... One is the greatest "upright" runner in the history of the game. Do you want to hear what coach Robinson said to him at his first NFL practice? Again, one of us has an ND degree. The other is far too dumb to even fill out the application.

an ND degree

I think the grammatically correct statement would read "a Notre Dame degree", but any real college graduate would know that.

Also, it's apparent in your reply that you are not concerned with what I think. That's why you responded.

Go Irish!

did it don on you that mcglincheys responsibility on that play was to double team ? I highly doubt that he chose to ignore his primary responsibility.

I got that impression from what I saw too, but it seemed like like there was a second half adjustment that let him get a hand on some guys that might have been missed (by everyone) earlier in the game. I was just speculating that it might have been a (positive) halftime coaching adjustment.

Overall I'm excited by this line. It looked like they were moving the LOS by 2-3 yards on running plays.

Where did you learn how to read? It's very impressive! "Again, one of us has an ND degree." That is pronounced N D...... This is what I mean by ND fan boys embarrassing the school. Believe me you lower the bar. I like that you didn't dispute my multiple handles claim. Once again you are outed....

Lastly, I wrote, "It really doesn't matter what you and all your other handles believe." You are incapable of "thinking" clearly. You are obviously very limited. Your "belief" system is also warped.

Please continue to "run" around this board proving you are the biggest rah rah fan boy on it. I'm sure you dress as a cheerleader often.... .

No, it didn't "don" on me. I think you mean dawn.

However, it is my guess that Zaire sent the, I think it was TE, in motion and an audible signal may have been missed. Adams was crushed.....

You are most welcome. I hope you practiced well today.

Can you give me some clarity on this remark you made:

"no head scratching needed. zaire himself said he didn"t put in the necessary work needed to see the field most of last year."

Where are you getting that from?

read it in more than one place. zaire said he wasn't prepared early in the season. I'm not one for searching the internet for quotes but I do remember reading it on more than one occasion.

The article I linked was covered by multiple outlets. The only quote I ever saw along those lines related to 2013. No worries, I just wish we would have seen him earlier. On the plus side, his body should be in top shape.....
PS McGlinchey and Nelson are nasty. They have very violent intentions.....
