Why did Mike Brey not save any timeouts for the end of the game.

Notre Dame had a chance to make history and choked.

Notre Dame will have to wait another thirty years to be in this position again.

Mike Brey blew it by not saving a timeout. The players played their hearts out and deserved a chance at victory-- not a prayer shot.

Grant should have looked to dump the ball off. His decision to go into the corner was uncharacteristic of him. We had a better shot without a time out just a poorly executed in bounds play from an experienced team.

Coach Brey indicated that he called his last time out to rest his team. Uk's height was very wearing on theIrish. I think that is why they were missing shots at the endow the game. They had no legs.

ND played a great game and deserves a lot of credit They were in it until the end with a shot to win it. That's all any team can ask for Latin a game.

Brey in his 20 years or so of coaching still doesn't know how to use TO's ..... the end of this game exemplifies more than anything else how our lack of an in-game coach hurts ND ..... he does not now how to draw up a play .... it was ABSOLUTELY no guess as to what ND would do at the end ..... give the ball to Grant and everybody get out of the way .... no screens and no consideration of using any of the other 4 players ..... and the team is loaded with guys who can shoot

So .... of course the entire Kentucky team was all over Grant at the end.

One other problem of note that I saw got a minor mention in another thread but to me is a big deal and major flaw that put us at a disadvantage at game time ..... we did this over and over and over again ... with at least Butler as well

ND has the ball .... less than 2 minutes to go in a 1-2 pt game ..... every possession is critical with plenty of possessions to go ..... ND wants to run the clock like any team would IF .... IF .... IF .... they had a bigger lead ..... say 6 pts or more .... the thought should be "WE need to score!" .... if we don't they can come down and tie or take the lead .... but no .... they hold the ball until clock is down to 6-8 seconds and then Grant goes one on one ..... you really limit your chances to score and get a good shot when you wait .... not as big a deal if you have a big lead and it is worth it to run the clock .... none the less ... stupid .... stupid .... stupid .... it finally bit him in the arse

Too bad because the players played great .... this has the same feeling as Danny Ainge driving the length of the floor

I bet all you negative nellies never played in an organized game of basketball in your f-ing lives! If you did, you'd recognize what an amazing job Brey did last night and what a great and heartfelt game our guys played.

Bodi -- your negativity surprised me. They ran out of time outs because Brey HAD TO CALL THEM to rest his five starters. They were pooped. If you guys played you know how hard it is to keep your legs when you are playing the whole game and, we were playing a team that is bigger than ANY TEAM IN THE NBA except one -- especially for 6'5" guys battling the boards vs. 3 seven footers! How big was Pat under the boards?! Yet we stayed with them and had them if we hit our free throws. Geez!

Complain that Brey doesn't get the big recruit. But as a coach I think he did a better job than any of the hall of famers who are still playing in the final four. Yes, Izzo and Coach K.

And Buguit: Guys who played the game (for real) just don't post shit like this.

Ask the players what kind of coach Brey is! Ask any other coach in the NCAA what kind of coach Brey is!

This was a great season. We beat two of the final four teams (one of them twice) and we were two bad possessions (and three missed free throws) away from beating a team full of NBA players (we are lucky to have one, perhaps two) that is making history going 38-0! We were in the game at the end BECAUSE OF COACH BREY! (Go ahead fire him, there are long list of teams with looser academic requirements and one and done policies who would hire him in a second. He is that good!)

Pisses me off when people just don't know shit about basketball. Bug off Buguit.

Kentuckys substitution rotation cost ND this game, down the stretch they were fresher. Could barely run offense last 2 minutes because we were gassed. KU didn't have better players, just more of them. You need to use timeouts with a 2 man bench. The above poster who questions Brey burning all his timeouts never played basketball.

Disagree. Between TV timeouts and team timeouts, there are many, many interruptions of action and time to rest. Anyone in decent shape should be able to play the entire game if necessary.

grant, connaughton and Jackson shooting 8 for 31 was the biggest factor in the loss. I'm sure that's breys fault too in your small mind.
