Just watched his post game presser. Interesting he started the presser talking about not getting the breaks. He was alluding to officials calls since when asked to elaborate he said he didn't want to spend his daughters vk money. He is a very good football coach. Wonder if he will stick around or move on.

had his team well prepared. it's obvious they have bought in to his philosophy.

I'd wager that he won't be at Temple next season. Somebody (e.g. Maryland, Illinois, etc...) will snatch him and his DC up.

I thought that defense was incredibly disciplined, sort of how we played against GT for most of that game.

I can think of a half dozen plays, with quick outs and screens where it looked like we had a shot at a big play and they just closed in from all angles.

right. they gameplanned to take procise out of the game and were very successful. they made kizer beat them and thankfully he did.

Temple played well and his coaching skill was obvious. The Owls have a number of players who could play anywhere in the nation and are an obvious upgrade from past Temple teams. I agree he will be heading to a more lucrative job.

All said, he has little right to complain about refereeing as his DB's mugged the ND recievers throughout the game with only a couple calls.

Thanks for the good laugh this morning. That targeting call was almost as bad as the one called against Tuitt in the Pitt game several years ago. The officials wouldn't make good high school officials IMHO. They let Temple players mug our lads all night long.

They looked like they had been told ND commits lots of offensive pass interference because they called two on us that were very strange.

honestly, in almost every pass play you could of called holding on temple the other thing was # 8 on temple when he tackled people @ times he was trying to hurt the irish player not in a good way

All these complaints about officiating conveniently ignore the grant of immunity against holding calls your offense was operating under.

You must be joking. Your o-line was holding Day and Rochelle on virtually every play. Go watch the replay.

Really? Temple's DB's could could have been called on every pass play. Oh, and someone tell those mall cop AAC officials that when a pass is thrown behind the line of scrimmage, i.e. a screen pass, the linemen are allowed to block downfield. It is a travesty that the center gets called for offensive pass interference on a screen pass.

Unless college is different from the NFL, I think the actual rule is that you're allowed be downfield but can't block until the ball is caught.

Saw that last week and was surprised.

College rule is different from NFL. If I'm not mistaken you can block downfield. If not then a lot of our screen passes have been illegal

pulled this from an article on screen passes on the ESPN site...
The reason screens are so successful in college football is that offenses take advantage of a very important NCAA rule. In college football, offensive players are allowed to block downfield while the ball is in the air if the ball is caught behind the line of scrimmage.

That had been a rule forever....actually since the Mel Blount rule took football by storm. Mel Blount (pronounced Blunt if you didn't know) is responsible for pass interference in football as you know it today. He was a 6'4" corner back that would just brutally maul receivers.
Ha..he was so good though that when they introduced pass interference because of him what happened??? He only led the league in interceptions.

The line of scrimmage runs sideline to sideline. It is an imaginary 3 yard box 1.5 yards fore and aft.
Any pass thrown in that box you can block immediately. At all levels.

The blocking down field rule is only in college and only if the pass is thrown and caught behind the line of scrimmage, as in a screen pass.

Yeah Temple's corners are taught to do this apparently. Cause the other games I saw them play this year, I was wondering why the refs are not calling pass interference or holding. But if you do it every single play how many times can a ref call a penalty. Its pretty sound strategy. I didnt really get to watch this game, but Temple was playing at home with more than likely American Conference refs. They are bound to get share of the calls especially saying how important the game is to the conference. Thats what made this such a good win.

Call on Shumate and flagrant pass interference when Fuller was mugged on goal line was a 11 pt swing for Temple . If ND played them again its a 17-21 pt game . Temple hopefully will enjoy the rest of the season cause its back to the abyss next season and don't think their coach doesn't know it .

Rhule the Tool. That's his new nickname. Based on his demeanor during the game and his comments after.
