Hey everyone. Congrats on the successful season so far. I decided to wander over to your board to ask for some advice on where to tailgate at next weekend for the game? There's going to be about 10 of us coming over to the game for a bachelor party. None of us have ever been to a game in South Bend before so whatever advice you guys have it would be very much appreciated! I see there are parking passes available on Stubhub. Is buying one of those necessary or will we just be able to show up early that Saturday morning to get a spot?

You can park at the White Lot or one of the off Campus parking lots say on Twyckenham by Ivy Court and walk. If you want to be in the heart of the action then you will want to pony up for a Stadium or Joyce Pass. This way you can leave and go to the Bookstore or see some things on Campus.

I have been many times and if this is your first make sure you see the Campus and do not spend all day in a parking lot. If I am going to be tailgating I make sure to look around Campus on Friday and after the game and let traffic die down.

Stubhub prices are generally too high. Their is a big guy named..."Big Jeff " who stands out front of Eddy Street Commons bookstore or O'Rourkes Pub....talk to him if you want a parking pass...he usually has them or knows where to get them and charges a fair price usually.

Enjoy!

How is the library lot? I see it’s supposed to rain so it would be nice to be on concrete instead of the grass and mud the whole time.

Library lot is good. Lots of tailgaters and you will need a parking pass to access this lot. Shouldn't be too expensive though.

I think you'd be better off with one of the scalpers around campus than using Stubhub.

Library is not bad at all. Much smaller than the Joyce/Stadium combo, which is kind of tailgate central, but there will be lots of tailgating in Library too. And you can still walk everywhere and go back there before the game. Are you NC State fans? If so, walk around Joyce/Stadium in your NCSU garb and you'll get lots of free beer and some free food too.

Been to well over 100 home games. My favorite spot is still here : 54756-54852 Ivy Rd, South Bend, IN 46637 (just google that). Close to everything, GREAT tailgating, live music on top of the bus stage. Walking distance to all the food/bars on SR23, Eddy Street Commons, Stadium...and a lot cheaper than the Joyce parking lot.

I have parked an RV or 2 just down from here and do not disagree. If you are off Campus this is the next best thing and in some ways better. We parked the RV from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning....walked to the Linebacker...Brothers, Eddy Street, Campus...and even had Domino's deliver us Pizza in a golf cart!

Yes, for night games, like last week, that's the time to break out the RV. Lucky for me I grew up with a couple of kids who inherited a lot of property along Ivy. They donated a lot to ND but held on to some, so we get to park there at no cost.

If it's your first time to ND, I would suggest not even spending anytime tailgating. There is TOO much to see in one day of tailgating. There are food and beverage option on campus. Just walk around, check out the sites, have something to eat and drink. When I go to away games for any of my teams, I always try to catch all of the other teams traditions and sites.

I agree with Doller. Take in the whole game day experience and everything that ND has to offer. Don't waste the experience standing in a parking lot when so much will be going on around campus. I didn't start tailgating for ND games until about my 5th trip there.

This might be a stupid question but how is the bathroom line situation at ND stadium? I plan on showing up at 8am. Walking around until about noon. Then drinking a case of Budweiser in the library lot. Nature will certainly be calling during the game. At our stadium, the lines are horrible. If I am going to miss a few minutes of the game I would rather just leave my Budweiser at home. Thoughts?

There are lines outside in the parking lots for the portable toilets but were manageable when I was there earlier this year. If walking around Campus there are a few spots that have no lines or less lines than others in the actual buildings such as the LaFortune Student Centre which is near the Administration Building (Golden Dome) if you walk up to the second floor the lineup is non existent or small.

In the stadium itself it is not that bad but for those who have been there before the lineups for the men's washrooms are much longer than they used to be. They eliminated the most efficient way for most men to go to the bathroom....the trough...and replaced it with individual urinals which of course means it serves less people...which equals longer lines. Interesting enough my wife and other ladies in our group said they had no real lines and they were very efficient with people pointing out whenever an empty stall opened up.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Just like Wrigley, taking away some of the troughs made the lines so bad. I missed a full inning of the NLCS this year just because i had to go #1.

The trough is by far the most efficient way to process guys having to pee. But it does seem like many of the younger generation are not comfortable with them.

Yes, the trough's were old and smelly but they sure were efficient. Now I noticed the re purposed most everything from the old part of the stadium. Like the wooden benches. Why didn't they re purposed the trough's. I thought The would make great ice holders for a salad bar; don't you think?
