Surprising Wimbush Stat

But what are the actual stats. As in completions vs incomplete...on both those yardage ranges. ??

I already posted the link to the stats for all his splits right there for all to use.

Inside the 10, he is 5/7 (71%). For comparison with some other QB's in the same range, Baker Mayfield 6/9 (66%); Kenny Hill 4/6 (66%); Mason Rudolph 4/10 (40%); Jalen Hurts 2/9 (22%);

Feel free to look up the other stats you need by clicking on the link in the OP.

Not new to links on posts. I can't see it for some reason is why I asked.

Thanks.

I wonder why that is? Teams having to plan on a near certain Qb run? Man to man defense? Maybe one of the board’s coaches can explain.

I think there are a lot of things going on. I took a quick look at the splits for about 10 of the QB's with the top QBR, and the only other QB that had a competion percentage inside the 10 greater then his overall completion percentage (instead of lower) was Lamar Jackson, who poses a good rushing threat.

I also think some - not all - of Wimbush's accuracy issue is that he's pulling the trigger late, but he's realizing he's pulling it late so he's throwing hard to make up for the timing with his arm strength. On some of the mid-range passes that causes the passes to go high, and on the long passes it causes them to be long and flat so there's not enough air under the ball for the receivers to adjust. I think he's forced to make decisions quicker when he's near the goal line, and that actually helps him.

IMO it's likely because most of it is off play action-----that's what a running game does for you.

2 reasons. Outside the 20s many of our pass attempts are shots at the deep ball. He overthrows these a lot. The other reason is he tends to run to get any yardage possible in the red zone whereas he tends to just throw it away more often when we're not in scoring position.
