But USC was ranked #1 the other year coming off their sanctions. And finished the year 7-5, unranked, and lost to GTech in their bowl game.
Was the first time in modern football a preseason number 1 failed to be ranked at the end of the regular season.

We should have a very good season 10-2 ,at least . I think Domers will be extremely disappointed with anything less .
Redfield ,Russell,Luke,Shumate ,Farley,Schmidt,Smith,Day,Okwara,Tillery,Rochell, Morgan,Trumbetti, and experience tackles in Hayes,Cage ,etc on defense . And then you have a very good to excellent offensive line in Stanley ,Martin,Elmer ,McGlinchey,Nelson,Bars , A wide receiver corps with Fuller,Robinson,Brown ,Carlisle,Hunter ,Prosise . QB Zaire gives us an added dimension as a runner.At tight end ,Luatua,Weishar,and possibly freshman A.Jones .Luatua ,Weishar are supposedly better blockers than Koyack . forgot to mention Folston and Prosise? as running backs .Folston is going to need a breather at some point in a game.
4-5 freshmen will emerge ?
This team looks 2 deep at almost every position. There is a question mark on the pass rush ? And I also think we need a good blocking back in key passing situations .Use tight end Luatua in the backfield?

Re Pass rush J Smith will help a lot - see Lawrence Taylor - also if healthy Grace will as well on interior blitz' . Grace is really fast for a Mike LB
