received several e-mail updates from the person on point for this effort, a St Mary's grad, each ratcheting up the disclaimer that this effort is not associated with or endorsed by the university, etc... the last stating she was uncomfortable with issues being raised by go fund me. She dropped the effort, has available the ad and contacts at the paper, etc... and go fund me has already refunded donations. So, it will be interesting to learn, presumably from CGVR, if this proved to be a scam or whether the university applied some back door pressure, or whether the process just got too legalistic and daunting for this person.
