Cal did what ND is too cowderly to do.
ND would never hire anyone with the NCAA baggage Chip Kelly has.
Scuda Cal had very very little success under him.
If Kelly was to go to Cal it would make the Stanford game more interesting though I'm not sure if their accedmics will get the players he got at Oregon
Being born and raised in the bay area I would go to the first Cal game every year with my dad and brother. I'm familiar with the Cal program and I'm shocked they fired Dykes. Football isn't their highest priority as it is at LSU where they'll fire coaches who have won an NC. I hope Cal gets Chip Kelly, as I think that'd be a great fit for him. Kelly is already in the bay area, is familiar with the Pac-12 and would certainly fill out the stadium seats. You have to think there's already been contact between Cal and Kelly, as it's very unusual for a coach to be fired this late in the offseason with no mention of any scandals or rules being broken and also this close to signing day.
While Cal is a prestigious university, they relax the standards when it comes to recruiting athletes.
They're taking a chance, not settling for average like ND has.
But they do keep a guy that has even more baggage than Chip. I guess people believe what they want to. #blinders

Bingo. He'll get the athletes he wants. Cal's graduation rates were pathetic not too long ago, along with UCLA's, when it came to football players.
Again, ND would never hire someone with the NCAA issues Chip Kelly has had. Not hiring Chip is not settling for average. There's just no need to compromise integrity for gridiron success.
And you were never going to post here again after ND kept Brian Kelly.

Let me get this straight we aren't going to compromise standards to play on the same level as other top football programs but whine when those teams kick our ass or when we do not sniff the playoffs? Did the University compromise standards up until Coach Holtz or were we committed to winning on the field?

I didn't start this thread nor did I say ND was too cowardly to hire someone like Chip Kelly. The administration was committed to winning under Holtz. Swarbrick is too cowardly to fire Kelly after a 4 and 8 season. Swarbrick has not shown he is committed to finding an elite coach no matter what he actually says.
