It's obviously been a tough year in South Bend and we've been arguing about the semantics of the situation for weeks now. One thing I think we can all agree on is that Notre Dame teams that have been successful, have all shared one thing in common... A lot of heart. While he didn't necessarily play on some of ND's best teams, ND could sure use a couple kids that play with his kind of effort and passion. It's amazing what playing fearless, intelligent, football at FULL SPEED can do to help a kid who isn't a dynamic athlete, become a difference maker.
While you undoubtedly need talent to win against the big boys, ND football was built on guys who play with the heart of a Michael Stonebreaker, a Tommy Z, a Manti Te'o, a Theo Riddick and this guy... Mike Anello. They come from different places, different backgrounds, different upbringings and different "star ratings", but what they bring to the table is undeniable and it's far more than simply "talent".
Watch closely at 2:15... The guy who misses the tackle is Anello. The guy who pulls his butt off the ground, hustles wayyyy down field, to the opposite sideline and makes the tackle, down the field, is... Anello.
