SMU isn’t very good. They may end up winning tonight but very beatable.

I'm surprised. I thought SMU would take them. Not over yet. Is Oregon really this good or PSU overrated?

9-3 Clemson played two SEC teams. Lost both games. The most recent was a home loss to South Carolina.
Conference champs they are in. Those are the rules the conferences agreed to.

I disagree, I think they look good. They had a couple bad breaks, but I like them better than Clemson. They look like what they are, a kickass G5 team, that nevertheless won the ACC outright in their first year. But the game's in danger of getting out of control.

Well they shouldn't be, but I suppose they probably will. It's been a tough game so far. But I feel like they're the better team. Clemson looks plodding like they always do. But somehow they're up 24-7.

Another reason to save your timeouts. Clemson has the ball on their own 2 with only a few seconds to burn. SMU does not have the 3rd timeout to force a difficult punt.

I like the way SMU is managing this game. They have a legit shot of winning. Let’s hope Clemson wins a tight one. If the committee wants to keep Texas ahead of ND, then it should be hard to drop SMU out with a closer lost.

I

A Clemson win specifically gets them into the 5-12 field. That means ASU and Boise get byes. So I guess that frees up some space. The playoff has really split the logic with this Conf champs get byes nonsense. SMU is either #3 or #12/outside and that gap could depend on the last fg try of the game.

A one score game with SMU having the ball with 4:05. They should be in the playoffs. Anything can happen in one game. Alabama is allowed to crap the bed against Oklahoma, but SMU can’t lose to a #17 9-3 Clemson by one score? (If that’s how it ends).

SMU should be in.

I think the Ponies are 99% in barring a loss of qb and giving up four touchdowns in the last minute.

Not with the playoff hanging in the picture. If the game goes to overtime SMU is always in with a good seed. And the Ponies have outplayed Clemson in the 2nd half and are favorites in OT.
Yeah you’re probably right. My thought was they could argue a one point loss. OT is maybe even better though.

Should have gone for two! One point loss or one point win. ;). They need to be in though.

That is always is the nightmare with, whatever it was, 20 seconds to go. The random good kickoff return. And then a perfect 55 yard FG.

Hope SMU gets in anyway, but I assume they won't.

Lookin at the rankings/bracket. I don't see how you can put Bama ahead of SMU. Oregon, UGA, Clemson, Boise, ASU conference Champs. ND, PSU, Texas, OSU, Tennessee, Indiana, SMU at large bids is my guess.

I don't see why Indiana gets in over SMU. SMU was above them in the last ranking. They want Bama in, they're going to put them in. So drop IU, they're nothing in football, they're no important than SMU, and they should fall out, if the committee guy meant what they said about the CCG not hurting you, by which they meant it wouldn't hurt an SEC team. And then he just ignored his own declaration, and said yeah they would drop SMU if they lost.

In any case, nobody gives a shit about IU, so just bump them in favor of Bama. SMU were already the ACC champs, that game was completely unnecessary, they weren't tied for first. So SMU would truly be getting robbed. And think of if as getting Clemson instead of IU, since Bama was going to get in no matter what happened. And Clemson's still a pretty big name. So everybody wins, except IU.

Not happening.

they already said anybody who didn’t play cannot jump someone else who didn’t play

Right, SMU is ahead of IU. So how could IU jump them? It's like you got it backwards or something. SMU is 8, IU is 9. So IU would be jumping SMU if SMU dropped out, precisely what the committee said wouldn't happen. Do you understand?

Besides, you also just said somebody who didn't play couldn't jump someone who didn't play. So you're all over the place.

Well thats impossible with Clemson now having a top 4 spot. Committee just loves to put their foot in their mouth. Lol.
They didn't say that. They said the opposite. Or the alternative. They said someone who didn't play couldn't jump someone who DID play but lost in the CCG. Which is what everyone was fussing about a few weeks ago, with a couple games left on the schedule and the CCG matchups were still up in the air. But apparently they didn't mean that at all, and just ignore what they said. Because they will in fact do that, in direct contradiction to what he said the committee distinctly wouldn't do. And I think he was pretty emphatic about it. Don't worry, if you pick up a loss in the CCG it won't be held against you, because of the obvious injustice of it. Read my lips. But they're just going to do it anyway. Somehow that goes beyond putting your foot in your mouth. That's more like, professional malfeasance.
