WOW! That's a lot of DB's! That's over one quarter of the class. If Kelly is recruiting for needs then the defensive secondary must be a serious need. One thing about it though, ND should boast the best secondary in the nation for the next couple of years. You could rotate them just about every other play!

Always seems to be a scramble to fill specific positions - you would think you could reach an equilibrium point that balances out every year.

A couple of the safeties could switch to OLB and you option to redshirts kids allows the team to even out the classes. There was such a need for safeties caused the coaches to bring in a big db class.

Agreed Pennick -- we may see a couple kids cross train @ OLB

ND has 8 four star recruits in this years defensive haul

Throw in Tranquill - Crawford - Bilal - Morgan - Luke - Coney - Birahas sp ck Rochell Jones - Tillery - Cage we should be ok heading into Texas

Really like these six players. Add in the young guys from last year and we have a very talented and deep secondary. As stated, this was an area of need (giving rise to the naysayers who kept harping Kelly can't recruit these positions), and staff did a great job addressing same.

ND is going to crush Texas again.

Except for Pride, they are depth players. No difference makers. Just some bodies to put on uniforms.

You are delusional. Just because they bring in six DBs it's automatic they'll have the best secondary. Holy $h!t some Domers are delusional.

We all could use better Dline play...ultimately there is no substitute to that.

Having said that our secondary was piss poor the last three years. Just down right bad at every facet. I do believe the blame should be shared between material and coaching but make no mistake it sucked. The biggest IMO with the secondary was run support. Or lack of it. Everyone wants a Kam Chancellor but just some good solid run support would be nice. We haven't had that since 12' and it really hurts. Those guys can keep the 8 yard run from becoming the 75 yard run.

I like loading up on the DB...let's just hope they blossom into good players.

If we played Texas at the end of last season, they would have beaten us.

Who is us? Clearly you are not a ND fan? Enlighten me to who Texas would have beaten - the Iowa State team they got shut out by? Fascinated by someone who creates a new handle just to troll a competitive site.

Completely disagree

Studstill is well....a Stud
He was one of the top FS's in our board from the get go and will be a major addition. I think he'll be a star and a serious NFL player

Elliott is also a fantastic FS/NB prospect. He's just a phenomenal athlete with a mountain of upside. He's raw, so he'll need a little time to develop, but he's exactly the kind of player we want to land.

Vaughn is a flexible player with major upside. At FS, he could end up being a star. He could also end up as a strong press corner. He's got bust potential, but boom potential too

I think Perry ends up at LB, where I really like his athletic upside and physicality. Very good Sam LB prospect.

And as you mentioned, Pride has the physical tools to be a shutdown corner on the outside and a 1st Round type of CB
(Though he's very raw and will need time to develop)

Love and Morgan are guys who I see more in the depth/rotational type of roles, but neither one is incapable of winning a starting spot and at worst will provide excellent depth and play on Special Teams

This was a great DB haul....on of the better overall DB classes in the nation
