Notre Dame knocked off North Carolina and Louisville but lost to Georgia Tech and Florida State. What could be accounting for the Fighting Irish's ups and downs this season?

Andy Katz: No one should be surprised. They have been erratic. It has been Notre Dame's calling card all season. Scoring hasn't been an issue, so if the Irish defend consistently, then they are a different team.

I criticize Brey, not ND. The only criticism I have made of ND is with respect to its lack of support for MBB. I easily demonstrated NDs lack of support by showing how ND is ranked #3 in WBB spend and 40-something in MBB spend. There is a clear correlation between investment and performance.

Greatness isn't easy, especially the ND way. I'd much rather have Coach Brey than any of the one-and-done
crowd. I'd much rather have Brey than the graduate transfer crowd (though Brey has indicated that he is considering this option). Our two frosh are on the ACC academic all america team. They're having a rough patch.
I'm sure nobody feels worse right now than they do. What Brey did last year isn't going to wash away quickly either. That team rose to great heights. He obviously played a principal role.

Actually I stated the same thing (i.e. there's hope) weeks ago. But, of course, this doesn't fit your narrative. Interesting you would raise this "contradiction" one day after yet another blowout loss, this one at home.
