Reminds me a little of Maddie, and probably has the same spirit;
She's definitely not just one of the boys.
It is not at all unusual for Indiana's top high school basketball player to be immersed in a culture of bouncing balls and smelly locker rooms.
It is unusual for a 3-year-old girl.
That was Ali Patberg.
When her father, Ron, coached freshman boys at Columbus North High School, little Ali tagged along. There was no running around the gym or playing with imaginary friends. She tried to push her smaller ball to the 10-foot rim. Whatever drills the boys did, she did. She mimicked what they did. It was unbelievable. Her dad had to restrain her when the boys went to shower because she followed right along. .
The years did not diminish Ali's devotion to basketball. Her efforts have been rewarded not only with a Class 4A state championship by Columbus North, but with landslide election as IndyStar Miss Basketball.
