He could never beat ND when it counted. Loved to say that the most important game of the season was the Rose Bowl. Of course, he only managed to win 2 of those in his storied career.
He was a good coach. Not a great one.

For Michigan fans -- yea, but when you read articles about the UM/ND series (and possibly renewing), all that is mentioned is the 31-0 (should have been 38) shellacking. That my friend, is all any outside outside of Ann Arbor speaks about.

And, when they decide to play again, all that will be talked about is the last time they played -- and the shellacking that ND laid on UM.

WRT the series history, all the games are relevant. All the games are represented in 24-17-1. Although I can understand why you prefer to cherry pick.
