SEC and B1G working on new framework

for the playoffs apparently. Heather Dinich reported Monday that the SEC and B1G are in discussions that could lead to an exclusive tournament for the two conferences.

Reporting that each conference would get four automatic bids, appearing to be an eight team playoff as her source stated.

They would eliminate the CFB playoff committee altogether. The conferences are considering a regular season scheduling agreement. The source even commented that ND would have to join the B1G or get left out and lose its access to USC and other yearly B10 teams schedules.
 
I read the article on ESPN.com, and it said they wanted 4 guaranteed spots each, in the 14-team playoff. So there'd still be 6 other teams involved. But I don't like the idea of guaranteed spots for conferences though, beyond one for the conference champion. The other spots should be given to at-large teams, based on their merits - just like the NCAA basketball tourney.
