according to wolverine.com and unnamed sources scUM is going to try and hold some of its spring practices in florida at IMG Academy where two of our class of 2016 verbals come from. I hope the big ten and ncaa step in and tell them that they can't do this. harbaugh is only doing this to let kids at IMG Academy and other local schools see them practice in person. it would be an unfair recruiting advantage to scUM if the ncaa allows it because a lot schools don't have scum's large recruiting budget and can't afford to compete with them and do the same

how is it an "unfair recruiting advantage" if every other school can do same thing? NCAA rules on recruiting are not predicated on the size of an athletic dept's budget, otherwise Eastern Kentucky would have the same size staff and resources to recruit that Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas and other big time programs have. If you want "fairness" then perhaps ND should give up its TV deal with NBC, right? I mean Tulsa doesn't have a TV deal with a major network. Maybe ND shouldn't be allowed to gain exposure on Showtime if Alcorn State doesn't get the same opportunity.

I think ND may have the largest recruiting budget in all of college football. Do you want all schools to be limited to the budget of say Eastern Michigan?

isn't it funny that when James Franklin had off campus summer camps in 2014, nobody uttered a word of complaint? When Harbaugh follows suit, coaches and fans of opposing teams are in an uproar. Gee, I wonder why that is... lol

True about Franklin and PSU. Don't forget that there was talk of ND doing something similar to this as well with some summer camps to be held in Georgia..

IMO there is a BIG difference between open summer camps and your team going to a High School for actual practices. This is a WAR the ncaa does not want to allow to start.

Not sure I see a difference between this and having enough funds that your football practice facility has laser tag and miniature golf.

Do spring practices not take place during school time? What about classes? Sure they could fly them down for the weekend but is this what it is coming to? I am sure Notre Dame players would love to fly down to Florida or Southern California for a few days each winter while they practice.

a few points to make so you can at least be educated on the subject to which you are objecting: 1) schools in the South have an obvious advantage when it comes to practices held in late February - early March. Indoor practices not same as practicing outdoors, 2) the discussions around UM practices in FL are to take place during Michigan's Spring Break, and 3) it is only being discussed as a possibility. UM hasn't even made a proposal yet so there has been nothing submitted to UM Athletic Dept, the Big10 or the NCAA. No need to get your knickers in a twist, Here's the link.

one of my problem is the fact that there holding it at a high school that is now getting a lot of attention for getting 4 and 5 star recruits to transfer there for there last year or two of high school and so yes they are simply using it get at those kids. if all schools could afford to do this then I wouldn't be complaining but when mac type schools or lower level power 5 schools can't do it money wise then the bigger fish like Michigan, penn st amongst others shouldn't be allowed to do it. it is like some of these big schools wanting to pay football player when they know the smaller schools can't do it

I still don't see the difference between this and spending ungodly amounts of money on facilities.

so should Brian Kelly have access to private planes from ND alums/boosters when clearly "mac type schools or lower level power 5 schools" can't make the same resources available to their coaches? Isn't he "simply using" his access to private planes as a means to "get at those kids." At least try to be honest about why you're griping. You don't care a lick about MAC schools or the Iowa State's of the world - you just don't want Harbaugh and UM to succeed any more than they already are. It's clear to anybody who has paid attention to football where the UM train is heading and you don't like it. Just own it. Did you complain a few years back when Nick Saban held his Spring practice sessions at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando? Didn't think so.

if you would've read my last post right romulator then you would've read that I said that none of the big fish should be allowed to do this and not just michigan
