Cap off the O-Line with Ryan Hayes. Then add brothers Mustipher and St. Brown... this could be a top five year for the Irish. Thoughts -- updated list IIO?

Long way to go to next Feb. but hey small victories along the way are nice.

It doesn't make a bot of difference . By February ND will be ranked anywhere from. 8- 15 in recruiting and it also might depend on what kind of a season we are having

I thought St Brown said he doesn't want to play where his brother played. Did I get that wrong?

The only factor working against ND landing a top 5ish class at this point is numbers. ND may be limited to taking 22-23 recruits and if that's the case it will be hard to hang with the teams that take 27-30 recruits, in terms of point accumulation and class ranking.

Outside of numbers, it simply comes down to the following guys and how many ND can land...

QB: Phil Jurkovec
WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown
WR: Kamryn Babb
WR: Kevin Austin Jr.
OT: Nicholas Petit-Frere
OG: Jamaree Salyer
SDE: Thomas Booker
WDE: Tyreke Smith
NG: PJ Mustipher
DT: Jayson Ademilola
LB: Dallas Gant
LB: Dax Hollifield
S: Derek Allen
CB: Houston Griffith

Hang on to the 3 of those guys you have committed and land 4-5 more and you'll definitely be in the mix for a top 5 class. If you only go like 2/11 with the remaining uncommitted guys from that group, you're probably looking at another class ranking in the 9-13 range.

PJ Mustipher is coming to town this spring to stay a few days which could be huge for our irish. also read that insiders from ISD think that our irish basically might have got into a good position with FL OT Nicholas Petit-Frere and Michigan OT Hayes after their visits recently. Michigan though just offered Hayes and really want him

I think Mustipher is Irish at the end of the day. He'll have 4 days to spend with his brother in South Bend and an opportunity to get to know Mike Elko as well as continue to bond with Mike Elston. Until I here something to the contrary, I have PJ in the class. It's a big pickup, IMO. Love kidd that are nationally ranked wrestlers and really good football players. Tough, tough, kid who won't be losing many leverage battles in college. Perfect size for a dominant college NG as well. For a position that ND struggles to recruit at times, I don't think people realize how good a two year interior haul at DT / NG that includes Darnell Ewell, Jayson Ademilola and PJ Mustipher would be. Those are 3 big time interior defenders that could have gone basically anywhere they wanted. All three could play right away in a support role. Add in a couple developmental guys like Amosa-Tagavailoa and Franklin and that would be as good of DT recruiting as you could hope for at ND (or anywhere not named Alabama for that matter).

Ryan Hayes is going to Michigan. ND will finish second there. Would have been a nice get as ND needs tackles, but it's not like losing an Eichenberg, Kraemer or Nelson. Hayes has a long way to go before he's college ready. Needs to add 40-50lbs onto his frame and isn't likely a contributor until his junior year. Could be an outstanding one for the Wolverines, or could never materialize... Probably has Mike McGlinchey type upside, but could also easily become Hunter Bivin.

Petit-Frere is the guy we want. He's Ronnie Stanley 2.0, with offers from everyone in the country. He could be Ronnie's little brother with his size and style of play. Which is ironic because his last name (which is French) translates to Little (Petit) Brother (Frere)... I think ND has themselves in great shape, but it's going to take one heck of a season and a recruiting effort to hold off Florida, Florida State and Alabama.

Hey IIO -- have you looked at Ja’Mion Franklin's tape yet? Another interesting prospect at DT/NG -- needs some coaching but be nice to add him to the mix along with Mustipher, et al..,

Watch Franklin's tape, then go back and watch Trevor Laws' high school film. Same style with great leverage and a gap shooter. Laws was listed at 6'1, 296lbs at Notre Dame. Franklin is about 6'1.5, 300lbs and like Laws is really athletic at that size. Would love to add Franklin as the third DT in a class including Mustipher and Ademilola. If he was the top DT we landed, I'd be underwhelmed. But if he's a Laws or Cage coming off the bench for 25 snaps per game behind Mustipher, Ewell and Ademilola, I'm thrilled. Get those three this year and Lacey next year and you have arguably the toughest position at ND wrapped up for the 2018 and 2019 classes.

IIO we offered Stepp today, Do we have a shot?

He loves your RB coach, who has known his family for years, but I'm going to say "no". Not unless something drastic happens with ND. He seems very honored by the USC offer, but that's it.
