Rumor floating around

Not only hasn't Jim H. released his depth chart, he hasn't even released his roster. At least that's what I heard on Sportsbeat this afternoon.

Since we have a few more days lets mull it. I say NO, there's too much risk. Even the idea that Jon is actually working for Michigan would be an unnecessary distraction.

Of course he's interested in leaving he's a journeyman coach good for a quick pop and then he has to move on. Reputation way better than his results.

That John Harbaugh would be interested in ND job if it became available.
When Jim bolts for the NFL next year after losing to Oh St again John can take over the Skunkbears. They wont have to change the sign on the door, Coach Harbaw.

Another inane post. The Harbaughs were never big fans of ND .To think that they would come to ND ,no way.
Also Jim Harbaugh almost won an NFL championship ai San Francisco and I'm speculating :with Saban , Meyer and others having banner recruiting year after year , be tough for to win a NC . Don't know if Harbaugh would want to continue to end his coaching career at Michigan

IIO, I have thought from the day of his hire at Michigan, that he would be there about five years and then move back to the NFL with an insane contract. He has turned the program around for sure, but I think he needs to beat Ohio St and win the conference championship to fill he has completed his mission, and this is improbable. I watched him at SF, and his players loved and bought into his demands and challenges initially, but they tired of his approach after several years, and it showed on the field. For that reason, I actually think he is much better suited for the college game given the constant turnover in roster and players eager to learn and impress. I think he should stay at Michigan, but I think he will return to the pros in a year or two.

improbable? Did you watch the OSU game? In Columbus. Year 2. Inherited players from Hoke era. Michigan was the better team who got home cooked and everyone who watched it knows it. A ton of young talent on roster. It's coming...

I really doubt that either John or Jim are 'hard-up' for a job - doubt either one would ever be interested
in coaching ND (especially considering all the road blocks the ND admin would throw in their way - yet expect a National Title)

He is already got one foot out the door according to his closest football friends. He wants back in the NFL bad.
They said he is a 4-5 year guy regardless of where it is. He doesn't see himself anywhere longer than that. He talked with his old boss at Indy (Irsay) about the Colts' position before, but he felt it was too soon after getting to UM.
If the Colts can Pagano next year it will be really interesting wit Harbaug's history with Luck & relationship with Irsay.
But either way, his football circle of friends say he will be back in the NFL sooner than later.

Doesn't he have a daughter at ND? That's what fuels this story. Doubt he'd really be interested, and hopefully ND would consider other options.
Daughter is a 2019 LAX recruit who has committed to ND. But right now she's a junior in hs.

Thanks for the info. Quite sure it'll take a stronger connection than that to lure Harbaugh into the fold, and that's assuming Kelly goes elsewhere.

Not sure why a successful nfl head coach would go back to college and the recruiting game.

Quite true, Holtz and Carroll came only because they weren't cutting it in the NFL and, although successful, Harbaugh burned a lot of bridges with the 49ers.

hilarious? delusional? wishful thinking? all of the above.

oh and btw, John Harbaugh just inked an extension with the Ravens. Great timing on this thread. lol

I don't think the 49ers organization shed too many tears when Harbaugh left. Of course the Dolphins organization threw a celebratory party when Saban left, but that worked out well for him. Some guys just don't handle being 2nd or 3rd banana in an organization no matter how many games they win. In college they know, if they win enough, even the college President can't mess with them. In the NFL, the owner is still the owner.

Good for John. I don't think any Notre Dame fan will lose sleep over him not being on the horizon as a potential candidate for the Irish head coaching job.

You all do realize that when the OP posts a ridiculous rumor, without any evidence or support, then doesn't respond to any of the comments, we really don't have to keep posting on the thread...just sayin'

Yep, thought that upset was a done deal. Yes, I think him beating Ohio State is improbable or unlikely, but not impossible. I hope he does as I like Michigan a whole lot more that Ohio State, and have since the Bo vs Woody days.

Yes, did you miss the fifth post of this thread? Echowaker noted that John Harbaugh had just signed an extension that very day.

From reading his one past post the OP is most likely a fellow Michigan fan trying to bait Irish fans.

...and who took the bait, hook, line, and sinker? You? ;)
