Robert Beal DE is Irish

The 6-4, 210-pounder chose the Irish over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Miami and many others. Beal recently named a top three featuring the Irish, Seminoles and Bulldogs, but this recent visit to South Bend was enough to seal it for Notre Dame.

"The offer was a dream offer," said Beal after adding the offer from the Irish back on May 11. "It's an amazing school. From the academics to the football side. It has it all."

It is raining defensive ends in South Bend !!! And to think many posters (Purse) doubted Coach Kelly's recruiting because they said he did not care because he is going pro !!

top 10 DE in the country committing out of nowhere to ND? Yes please! This is an SEC Dlineman right here.

I follow recruiting pretty close and this kid is as big of a catch that you could get as he is a 5 star type recruit. his offers list list is impressive just like mopkra posted. he has a grandfather that lives in south bend and i'm sure that also helped our irish

Grandmother, she worked at ND and still lives in SB. and i agree, this will be a high 4 star kid at worst. He is now listed by 247 as the #3 weakside DE in the nation!

you are probably right D_Master about it being his grandmother but I just remember reading from others this summer that it was a grandfather. either way were both right about our irish getting a highly rated elite pass rusher. usually kids this good from Georgia stay home most of the time and play at UGA or go to places like LSU,FSU AND BAMA and not to Midwest schools

CoolIrish, good prediction on the Temple game. You said it was going to be a close win.

Maybe six or seven guys per class nationwide that have the upside Beal has as a pass rusher on the next level.

That’s how big this verbal is for Notre Dame.

Perhaps the Irish will land a player or two in the end that will rank higher than Beal, but none more pivotal in the 2017 class.

This young man can flat go get the quarterback. He’s a double-team waiting to happen. A really good pass rusher with a good frame at 6-foot-4, 230-pounds that can bend. He can also run with a listed time in the 40-yard dash of 4.51 seconds.

Freaky type athlete here.

Ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 3 weak-side defensive end and No. 70 prospect overall, Beal visited Notre Dame for Irish Invasion and thought about pulling the trigger back in the summer. Recruited by Scott Booker, Beal saw Irish defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder at his game two weeks ago. Other offers included Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State.

Early in the 2017 cycle, Notre Dame is sitting on the nation’s No. 5 recruiting class per the 247Sports Rankingswith several more highly-ranked prospects already thinking strongly about ND. As the Irish’s strong 2015 season continues, it will continue to add to the buzz the Irish have with current high school juniors.

This haul in the trenches on defense in the junior class has a chance to be as special as the 2011 defensive line group Brian Kelly and company signed their first full-year recruiting in South Bend. In addition to Beal, there is absolutely no question Notre Dame is in the lead group for and have a great chance to sign five-stars A.J. Epenesa and Joshua Kaindoh. Remember that list of six to seven guys? Those two are in that group too.

No way Georgia gives up on the No. 8 prospect in their state, but if you go back and look at the timeline, Beal visited the Dawgs for three games last year and for none of the big home games this year. There is no reason to think at this point in the process Beal won’t stick despite giving an early verbal.
