Mom and aunt went to Michigan. Three horse race between ND, Michigan and Ohio state. ND and Michigan out front. Most seem to think that ND's combination of academics, having Wimbush and a current commitment from the Ademilolas, as well as the rover position, which this kid was born to play (he plays it now in high school) has them in front... Would be a huge get. This kid continues to climb the rankings and will be a consensus top 150 player by the end of the cycle. 6'3, 210lbs right now. Will play around 6'3, 225lbs. Ideal rover in his physicality and tackling ability, as well as his coverage skills.

This staff is such a breathe of fresh air, especially the defensive staff. Mike Elko has already visited what seems like about 30 top end recruits for 2018 and 2019 in the first couple weeks of May. That's more visits than BVG in 3 friggen years. Pair that with Mike Elston, who seems to be everywhere and it's not shocking that we're seeing some traction among top end defensive recruits... Recruiting is about 60% effort after all.

I think Shayne Simon is one of the targets who has said he plans to decide and commit before his senior season. Would love this to be ND for the reasons IIO expressed, and would love it to be announced at the Irish invasion. Time for some more good recruiting news. Hard to keep up with this staff, especially on the defense, as the number of visits and offers are way beyond anything we've seen in decades, if ever.

It was only a CB, and the CB was by an OSU media guy, stirring the pot (?).
In the end it looks like teams in contention jmo, it will be PSU, UM and ND.

Arthur Miller, Clarence Darrow, Raoul Wallenberg, Branch Ricky, Tom Hayden, James A McDivitt, Ben Carson ...

pretty sure they sought quality educations.

The education schtick is way over played. Almost every commit mentions 'education', even when ND is not the choice.

Overplayed the education Schtick.Absolutely there are state universities that give a quality education ,plus many of the public universities have great research programs getting federal dollars.

The booger picking coach maligned the academic programs that Michigan shuffled athletes into when he was coaching at
Stanford.

I don't believe education is over played at ND. You use your advantages when recruiting and a great education is a benefit ND should use every chance it gets. Yes other public schools offer great educations but ND is "considered" a cut above, like a Duke, Stanford, Northwestern etc. Combine that with a great football tradition, a national brand, $400mm renovated stadium and new facilities coming and you've got a great "sales" pitch that just happens to be true. Go Irish!

“Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,” he said, “but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them.”

I'm curious to see if this has changed under his watch.

Perse, understand that facilities, tradition, national brand, national television contract, players making to the pros, attract players and parents. That is reality. Education doesn't attract all players, but it does some and those are the young men ND has to focus on. Also, education should be attractive to parents. Either way it isn't a negative unless the "student" athlete isn't interested in school and only wants to go pro. In that event, ND is not the right place for that young man. ND is a special place and a great education is a component of that. Never run from your strengths. Embrace them. Go Irish!
