Good to see, not a whole lot of plan C/D guys in this class. I don't care much for rankings, I like to see BK get the guys he's initially after.. Claypool, Elliott, Love are a few who have gotten some love from the recruiting sites but I think Spencer Perry and Troy Pride will be the biggest sleepers from this class.

In all honesty, it's very difficult to really know who was the #1 prospect, #2, etc. First, coaches cannot comment on the kids during the time frame where that would matter, so everything is second hand and there's a lot of people guessing and hypothesizing. Secondly, it's in every coach in the country's best interests for the fan base to believe that the kid we got was the #1 target, so they are never going to say anything to dispel that thought when they can finally comment on the kids after they sign.

Clearly I'm inferring and making educated guesses based upon when offers to these guys went out, length of recruitment and opinions of some of the recruiting 'experts' at B and G.

And I'd say your guesses are indeed consistent with the info that's been put out there by all the major ND recruiting sites going back to when the 2016 recruiting cycle kicked into high gear over a year ago. This isn't something that was only speculated after each recruit offered a verbal commitment. It's what was being speculated very early on before each recruit committed.

don't know how Kelly and staff have them rated but they have verbals from the #1 rated DE and TE from the 2017 class already

Are there any Drue Tranquil types of players out there? Maybe if we can't connect with a 5 star maybe there is a guy with great football instincts and awareness like Drue?
