#1--Except for turnovers had #1 clemson beat playing only one-half of good football-in Death Valley.
#2--Defeated lsu in bowl game--#2 this year.
#3--7 wins over FBS teams
#4--This team has talent.

There is no question that IF ND WINS OUT, including a qualifier at stanford, they deserve a playoff spot. Kizer, turnovers and defense will be the reasons we do or do not.

BEAT pitt!!!

#2 isn't really relevant (we wouldn't want Ohio State to get credit for winning the national championship this year), and for what it's worth, I'm guessing most teams in the Top 25 have "talent".

#1 is a good point (though I sense quality wins are more important than quality losses for the committee), #3 is a good point, though I think it makes sense to expand on it.

#1 - Clemson shut down the offensive side of the ball and played very conservative the 2nd half of the game.

Kizer, current #10 ranked power rating QB, who has continued to rally the team, says 'thanks for the vote of confidence'

I think it more important to list the reasons ND isn't a playoff team. Before some of you all get your panties in a wad, I'm a huge ND fan and want nothing more then to see the Irish win it all.

1. Miss tackles. This team misses way too many tackles. That's the reason half of these gash plays have happened. Be it Redfield, Schmidt, Russell or anybody else, the missed tackles have been nauseating to watch. Imo must of it has been due to bad angles which is probably due to lining up wrong presnap.
2. Red Zone offense. I watched the Bowling Green game and heard that they were like score TD's on like 20-26 trips inside the RZ. Does anybody actually believe that ND can consistently score on 1st and Goal to go against Ohio State or Alabama? Not with the current set up they've used. Idk if our OLine is more skilled to be pass blockers (Kizer always seems to have a great pocket to throw from) so maybe BK should be seriously looking at some of the back ups to see if one or two of them can give us a better push in short yardage? Idk but imo our OLine is the big issue in short yardage run packages.
3. ND needs another running threat. I don't care if it comes from Tori Hunter on Jet Sweeps or from Josh Adams or Dexter Williams but ND must find another threat on the ground.
4. Pass Rush. I know they've said they are going to look at other options at DE in their sub packages and that's a welcomed bit of news. ND needs 3-4 sacks per games and double digit QB Hurries in order to take that next step on the defensive side of the ball.

No man, not at all. I'm stoked to think that ND will go 11-1/ 10-2 and possibly make the CFP. I was just trying to stimulate some comments here and point out some areas that ND needs to get better at in order to reach its maximum potential.

Whenever I read I am a big ND fan right before a negative shot across the bow, I hit the ignore link.

Whoa, Ara... I'm a long time poster here and respect the heck out of you. Trust me... I'm not a troll.

I think number 1 correlates with my main worry about ND and that is the propensity to give up multiple big plays. Which is often due to bad tackling.

Update: 8 FBS wins.

Uhh...forget lsu......clemson!

Today if ND wins out we are IN!!!! Might need a little help from big 12--texas?--getting baylor & okst each a loss. iowa beating osu would be sweet too. But BK IS RIGHT.

BEAT wake forest!!!

curious. what is "maximum potential " ? I don't get posts like this because the opponent never, ever gets any credit here. those players are playing every bit as hard. perfection will never happen and to expect it is silly. like lou holtz said " the other guy gives scholarships too ". every team has warts.
