Read recap of practice yesterday , it was reported that Doug Randolph and A Trumbetti did the best job getting in the backfield yesterday . IMO it would be huge if these two guys became reliable pass rushers HUGE .

If these guys are the real deal coming off the edge and we get a healthy dose of J Smith being used in a LT role on pass plays our problems may be over as far as getting to the QB . Hope it happens -

I am a big Trumbetti fan. I think he showed some great flashes of his potential last year. But he hasn't figured out the science of the defense yet (as of last year). I really think he is more of a pass rusher than most are giving him credit for. In many of the plays last year he was the first linemen to be at the point of contact on outside run plays and was pivotal in collapsing pockets on passing plays. Last year he had:

21 total tackles 15 solo 6 assisted
5.5 TFL, for 22 yards
1 sack for 7 yards
5 QB Hurries

From his HS films I thought he had a chance to be a Ryan Kerrighan type player for us -- I also think Bonner and Blank will one day be very good for us .

I hope Trumbetti breaks out this yr -- it could be one of the few missing pieces for this team solved ( rushing the QB )

Thought Trumbetti played exceptionally well for a freshman, and he consistently provided push, just fell short of getting the sack, etc... An inside rush that flushes the QB out of the pocket makes a hell of a difference in the number of sacks the outside guys get, and we had none last year.
Randolph has been off my radar screen and it's good to see his name among those showing well.
Continually, interesting how the article you reference continues to hype Rochelle as much better suited for the inside in terms of getting push, etc...

I understand the need for a pass rush -- I really think that Jaylon Smith should have the EXACT role that LT had for the Giants -- pass rush solved in a big hurry
