Thanks to all who submitted questions for me and @Eric Hansen on this week's podcast. Love seeing all the questions from subscribers! These are the questions we answered with timestamps.
40:10 • @CharlesWWolfe: Can you give us the latest on the QB portal shopping?
46:21 • @mmcdonound: Pretty excited about the possibility of Hartman transferring to ND. Is it possible the best case for '23 is still TB wins QB competition, because he plays like the guy he was projected to be coming in? Or Hartman behind ND OL just too good to pass up?
48:57 • @ldlgoirish: ND prides itself on offensive line play. The O line room has a unique chemistry in that room. That unit performed well as the season went on. But IMO not good enough. Also this unit needs to be dynamite, not good. Michigan has won the Moore trophy two years in a row. They rushed to a 5.6 yards per carry to ND's 4.5. Right now they may rightly claim to be O line U (sickens me to say that). This year they added a center transfer from Virginia who was lights out as a player. With the ND O-line room chemistry and talent would ND coaches ever consider transfers if that would improve the unit? Would the unit this year have been better if ND had taken the transfer from Virginia? Your and Eric's thoughts and analysis are always appreciated.
54:44 • John of Gauntlet @Willinghumm: What is NDs usage of NIL in the transfer portal relative to how they use it for high school recruits? And how does ND stack up to other colleges with NIL in the transfer portal?
59:35 • Christopher Kruse @ChrisND92: Do you think the actual bowl game plan will protect Buchner from extra running hits (more passing and hand-offs) or optimize his running skill set/strength? What would do if you were MF or TR? I think he has to play to his strength to win QB1 next year.
1:03:25 • Robert Doyle @iRobertDoyle: Merry Christmas to you both! Glad you got some Canadian weather down there to celebrate appropriately : ) Are there any younger players who might get an extended look in the bowl game?
1:06:13 • Marie Biafore @biafore_marie: What are the three things that need to happen for Notre Dame to have the best chance to win the game on Friday? With the loss of Peyton Bowen does safety now become a priority in the transfer portal?
1:11:32 • @1IRISH1: How many players and coaches are currently missing for the bowl game currently due to weather delays and flight cancellations?
1:13:07 • @RRH1: Who do you expect to be ND’s starting LB’s next season?
1:15:15 • @Dunnigan80: Best comp on Sneed? Ernie Sims from Florida state? I know he would have a long way to go however athleticism, size and speed it has me hopeful.
1:18:28 • @henrybeede: Which early enrollee freshman are you most excited to see during spring practice?
1:22:18 • @clannad: Do you think it’s time Notre Dame just says F-IT , and creates the new Academic Conference, with like minded , character driven , academically qualified and degree minded institutions and actual student athletes ? The ncaa , NIL, transfer portal, non- rule following institutions and academically none qualified athletes are ruining college sports and have turned college athletics into the newest online gambling of the 21st century.
1:26:52 • @Irish Runt: Can you provide clarity on the upcoming playoff structure in 2024 and what the revenue sharing agreements look like?
Would it be more beneficial from a revenue perspective to have a home game and not have the bye? Do we get some of the TV revenue share for that game if we were to play in one? Would it be on NBC? If we are away and made a playoff game, would we get any additional revenue?
Also is my understanding correct that if we were the 12th ranked team by the playoff committee and the highest ranked non power 5 conference team was ranked lower let’s say 17 they would get in over the 12th ranked team?
