Every few years there is a recruiting weekend that has the potential to shape the direction of the program for the foreseeable future. This weekend is one of those recruiting weekends, with a plethora of talented 2016 and 2017 prospects on campus and quite a few of them on commitment watch.

Notre Dame has the chance to add 2-3 elite 2016 prospects (at positions of need) this weekend. This is also their opportunity to cement their place at or near the top of the lists of a couple recruits who intend on dragging the process out a little bit longer.

This will also be a huge weekend for 2017 recruiting. I expect there to be a 2017 commitment coming out of the weekend (or in the following week).

Beat USC... Just beat USC... And the 2016 class will be a top 6-8 class when all is said and done.

Your keyboard.....God's ears.

Oh...sorry.....ask Aaron Rodgers.....God does not care about football.

The real factor will be the weather....if the players will want to play in the north..

I do not think weather and game results affect all potential recruits. Didn't Manti leave the snow game early against Cuse? Moms play a role. Quick playing time plays a role. Facilities. Atmosphere. Education is in there somewhere. It could be 80 degrees on game day with a huge Irish win. Then, weather turns south the next week followed by a 4 game losing streak. Never know what goes through the mind of a recruit.

Winning the game is less about beating USC and getting a win. It's more about the atmosphere in South Bend, during and after a win. Kids like all the things you mentioned and they want to play in a great college atmosphere. Nothing creates a better atmosphere in South Bend than a win against USC, in a night game, with 80+ thousand people in attendance who have been drinking all day.

No need for us to hide behind some type of morality. Kids love that stuff. They want to play at a place what loves it's football!

I've seen twelve USC/ND games at the Coliseum in my younger days, but would love to watch them play a night game at ND when something more than the rivalry is at stake, like this year. Should be an incredible environment, and any kid seriously thinking about ND would have to be influenced if the Irish play exciting ball and win. Envious and also happy for those of you attending this year. Enjoy and be safe.

Perse. I beleieve you were the first to mention this. There was a similar article on one of the major news services today or yesterday. Both teams have a lot riding on it. Our advantage is the game is at home so even if we lose, we should come out OK (unless USC embarasses us)

It's hard for me to get excited about HS kids deciding where to go to college to play football.

I know a lot of you guys are really into it, but for me I have to much on my plate.

recruiting is like a sport, but when you lose one, you don't have to wait a week, months; win or lose, there is another game rightaway!

well, Sat is here, so Go Irish! Hoping the 'Luck of the Irish' is all good ! Beat USC!
