WTF? This is almost as bad as the continued red zone issues and the clock management woes.

I'm beside myself on this, why the hell run that D, we see time and again every single week at all levels of football that this often blows up in the defenses face.

Now, I know I'll be attacked mercilessly by some here, can't have an opinion that goes against BK ever. That said, I did coach DBs for a very good HS FB program in Texas before moving. We never, ever played prevent, the DBs have to coverup way too long because the DL can't get to the QB. Very few defenses can get pressure with just 3 DL. I've seen a few teams do it but it takes a great DL group with a Joey Bosa type player that can get up field quick or power right through OLs.

I'm just so disappointed that you give up that play to Hogans biggest target right up the seam...unbelievable and unacceptable.

You would think with the prevent D that ND would have someone at least close to the receiver. But, no. Wide open, almost like a blown assignment. While dropping eight. Boggles the mind.

I always thought Van Gorder's thing was blitzing and pressuring the QB, especially in a 2-minute drill. Then we get this, in the last defensive stand of the year. I'd rather gamble and go for the QB pressure. But VG lost his cojones there IMO.

Maybe ND coaches and players were under the impression that Stanford needs a TD to win and not a field goal.

Just like they seem to think we need a 2 point conversion with 6 minutes left i 3rd Qtr.

We had a prevent defense against BC. And they just marched down the field for their second touchdown at the end of the game.

a poster on TOS said it best; watching Schmidt play in space is like watching Ray Charles try to find the switch to turn the lights off.

Not really. go back and look at the big catch at the end of the game. He never dropped back in zone coverage far enough giving hogan an easy lane to throw the ball
And you know the defensive scheme well enough to know he is suppose to drop back 26 yards? Just asking

Prevent defense prevents you from winning. Let me guess.... VanGorder won't be fired. ND is all about stealing your money then losing.
