It's with an extremely heavy heart that I ask for your prayers on behalf of the family of a dear friend and an amazing young man, SAR Tech Master Corporal Alfred Barr, who was killed yesterday in a training accident in Saskatchewan. I had the pleasure of serving with Alfred and he was exactly who you would hope they were sending to rescue you if you were lost, injured or stranded. A highly skilled professional and a better friend. For those of you who don't know, a SAR Tech is essentially an Air Force PJ, with some Rescue Swimmer qualifications as well. They are critical care paramedics and surgical medics, with vast skills in everything from SCUBA, to Skydiving, rock climbing, etc, etc. They fly into hurricanes to save you when you're caught at sea. They skydive into mountain regions to rescue climbers, they dive into frigid waters to pull people out and they are sent on sometimes near hopeless missions to pull their military brethren out of the most dire situations. They are the extremely few and they are both elite professionals and for the most part, even better people.

God Speed Alfred!

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

IIO...I think many prayers are said w/o posting such, as is my habit. Sorry for the loss of a friend, and prayers for his family to accept and find peace with God Will, and to celebrate his life and remarkable achievements.
