Kelly received a new 5 year contract , supposedly around 2 million a year . Nowhere near the amount of Charlie Weis money . When Weis was let go , ND did not include a contingency that if he accepted another job ND would deduct the salary of his new coaching job from the buyout(compensation) he received from ND . Sometime in today's contracts , when a head coach is let go , the amount of his buyout depends on his next coaching position . Am I wrong ?

My point : many die hard Irish fans are looking to have Kelly gone . And people bring up ,Swarbrick and the administration does not want to payoff another head coach . I agree and think Kelly will not be let go this year and coach in 2017 . He will be here unless there is a complete team let down . Irish fans do not know all the terms of his new extension ?

Not sure about any other ND fans - but what the hell do you call this season so far ?

2 and 5 record with losses to each team we were favored over ?

Can't even win a game vs. The teams we are supposed to beat ?

Every team we lost to has worse recruiting rankings than our team.

Being out coached and out played by inferior talent ?

There is both a coach and team let down going on.

I just posted on another tread, and then I read yours and we say basically the same thing.
Kelly has no where else to go, so he is not going to leave on his own free will.
Unless ND buys him out, he stays regardless of what the fans want !

Buyout means nothing. See paying Weis and Kelly at the same time. Money means nothing to ND. They shit money. What does matter is TPTB and if they threaten to with-hold donations. Just like Bob Davie. And realize ND was smart enough to protect themselves from Weis, and his situation, from repeating it's self again. If they want " coach" Kelly gone he will be. Period. If not, ND has told us ALL we need to know about how they view their football program. GO OSU!

The extension is a nightmare for ND. Just read your attached article.

$4.5 million for 6 years (assumed) since that is his current rate.

Per the attached article sounds like BK agent was playing the NFL card like CW agent did to.White.

JS took it hook line and sinker. ND got bamboozled again !

The "fellows" can't be all that happy with JS right now. And the B.O.D. can't be all that happy as well.

BK by signing that 6 year extension makes it awfully hard for ND to let him go.

Wonder how those new luxury box ticket sales are going ? Hope they got them sold out before the cluster F of a season began to play out.

Thank you. This nonsense that I've seen posted on this board that Kelly only makes 1.5 mil to 2 mil is insane. He would not be here if that were the case, he could easily go to 1 of 100 schools that pays more.

4-4.5 seems to be the generally assumed range. But I would think there are other revenues that come from being the Head Coach at ND; no need to pass the hat for him!

His base salary is around 1.3 million.

UA money...radio show and or TV show....all in a way directly influenced by ND. So while you can technically say he makes more than 1.3 approx...

His base salary is 1.3 or thee of.....no?

Either way what he makes is peanuts.

The numbers if salaries today are laughable because it's all become like play money.

If they wanted rid of him they would not bat an eye financially. None.
