I think that this year is going to be total chaos! Looking at the future schedules of different teams you could very much have quite a few undefeated and one loss teams. Mix that in with only 4 spots, some power house names in college football may be on the outside looking in (Note Dame being one of them) Don't see the committee putting a one loss ND in front of a one loss conference champ. Definitely think the playoffs should expand to 8 teams. Hopefully the chaos that happens this year will expedite that.

I've been chirping an 8 team playoff for years

  • New Years Day 1/4 finals
  • Sugar
  • Rose
  • Orange
  • Cotton
too simple for kiss ass NCAA eunuchs

There could easily be 10-15 teams with one loss/ undefeated... granted one heck of a scenario would have to play out for that to happen, but is wouldn't be out of the question to see 8-10 in that position.

Love to see it but that would mean a potential 16 game season for the conference champions that advance to the Chamionship game. May be too much. Maybe not.

Last year's FCS champ ND State was 15-1... definitely think 16 games may be pushing it, but it's not completely out of the question.

I would love to see the bowl games on New Years be relevant again . I really miss the four games being played on New Years Day and night --

Yeah I guess. Plus 1 of those 16 games would probably have been an FCS scrimmage game anyway.

Every year there seems to be talk of four or five teams going undefeated. History proves that it almost never happens. And, if you are wanting to count the Toledos of the world then don't expect them to crack the playoff - not happening.

It's not just a matter of going undefeated. The way the playoffs are set up, one loss (and in some years even 2 loss) teams have a legitimate shot at the playoffs. If you look at the 2013 final rankings 7 of the top 10 had 2 losses and 1 even had 3 losses. Could you imagine the argument of which 2 loss team deserves a shot in the playoffs? It's just a matter of time until they expand to 8 teams. It's all about the revenue... once they figure out how to keep the big wigs happy, then it's all but guaranteed.

I believe the playoffs will eventually expand as well. Possibly to six (1 and 2 having a bye) or eight teams. Regardless of which teams the committee chooses, there will always be controversy - it's college football.

I just want a game vs an opponent from: Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, UF or tOSU in some bowl! playoff or otherwise!
Let's find out where the team's progress stands! there or what needs to be done!

It wouldn't surprise me to see a two loss SEC winner this year. If so do they get left out? They should.
The Big 12 is the mess. They all play each other this point in. Relevant teams anyways.
Oklahoma is probably the one team from there that plays a little bit of defense.
Oklahoma state, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, are going to play each other now forward.

The next several weeks Will be fun

the SEC should not be left out IF the conference champs losses are intra conference losses! penalizing a conference because of it's strength is not the correct way to determine the National Champion!

I think a 2 loss SEC team should get left out if you have a number of unbeaten undefeated or 1 loss teams.

What if Iowa goes undefeated and beat O$U in the Champ game? You certainly can't leave out an undefeated Big 10 champ. Then what about O$U? Do you take a 2 loss SEC team over a 1 loss, Big 10 runner up and defending NC? I wouldn't.

What if Clemson and FSU each finish with one loss. Can you really leave one of them out and take a 2 loss SEC team.

Then there is Stanford and ND. If one of those schools finishes with a single loss do you drop them for a 2 loss SEC team. I haven't even mentioned the Big 12 that could have multiple 1 loss teams.
