Okay, Boys and Girls, we've arrived at the week of the First Round of Playoffs. What say you?

I say the first half will be close. IU has some creativity with their offense, but Golden makes good adjustments and after a couple scores shuts them down. As for ND, we match them with a couple TDs in the first half but in the second half our OL wears down the IU guys and Love and Price have big numbers.

ND 38
IU 17

That honestly sounds about right. Now I do question NDs ability to execute a successful field goal so I'll go 35-17.

This staff is predatory (in a good way) and is unlikely to run twice into a stacked front, and then pass on third down into nickel with an exotic blitz package. Instead they will pass early against the stacked front, probably a screen or to tight end. If corners are sitting on short routes (and they will be) I expect something down the field. Once we hit one or two of those, the run game opens. On defense, we might show deep safeties a time or two but we will also soon stack box, bring pressure, and play tight coverage. This approach will ensure that the defensive backs of both teams are a determining factor. Ours are the best, theirs are average. 31-21.

I look at this game like their matchup with OSU. They scored on the 1st drive and didn't score again until under two minutes to go. They couldn't run the ball at all and the QB was under duress all game. I think the ND defense is every bit as good as Ohio States and ND has a much better offensive line and running game. If ND doesn't turn the ball over it could become a severe beating.

There are a few females on here. Irish Alice has been a long time poster like me.
Good thread. I will wait until Thursday or early Friday. Predicting scores 5-6 days out is clunky for me, like placing a bet six days out.

If we don't turn the ball over and get pressure on the QB I see ND winning 31-13 comfortably. If we give this guy time to throw, I can see a 31-27 game for ND. Protect the ball and we should be fine. Turn it over 2-3X and all bets are off

If we can run the ball, I see this as a comfortable win. I'd love to see us impose our will and push them backwards down the field. I suspect Golden to have a lot of exotic blitz packages in store to keep their QB guessing a lot.

ND 35 IU 17

BUT

I wouldn't be shocked if this game is tight. Remember, IU really is playing with house money. No one expected them to be here so they can throw the kitchen sink at this game to beat us.

Vegas has ND favored by 7.5

That’s a good score. I would tack on a bit more. ND 42 IU 13

Irish 49
IU 10
I wish I had your confidence. I see both teams having had similar success against similar strength schedules and see this game as much more of an ND-Louisville type match up than a walk in the park. I'm more concerned about cold weather affecting Riley Leonard of Alabama than Kurtis Rourke of Ontario. I've also seen ND teams with "great offensive lines" play with the tenacity of tapioca pudding in big games, but I'm hoping that our superior talent leans on IU's defense enough that we can keep their offense off the field for long stretches and scratch out a close 24-21 win (as Mitch Jeter stuns us all with a fairly long field goal at the end of the first half.)

Agreed I think we win a fairly close one. Although a blowout would be good for my blood pressure. IF we blow them out I think we will become one of the favorites to win it all. But again; I see it being close.

Hear you on the blood pressure front. I think mine is already climbing and I have to finish some work before I can retreat to my bedroom and try to meditate before it goes through the roof.
