New article in the Daily Trojan attacks the our mascot Traveler, because Robert E Lee's horse was named Traveller (two lls). Apparently a close spelling is enough to be hateful.

Just waiting to hear that Hitler had a dog names Spot and Jeff Davis had one named Rover. Then we are all in trouble.

Can't believe they aren't marching and burning down your campus over the hateful stereotype, "Fghting Irish."

Yea, when I read an article on this, thought this was a poster child for PC gone crazy.

I think our situation would be similar to the Seminoles. The lefty loons would be screaming for the name to be changed, and the supposedly offended Irish people would say they like the name and want us to keep it.

Agree.

I brought this up a few days ago after seeing the story about the USC mascot horsey on TV. It will go nowhere. I do not believe there will ever be a serious backlash over the name Fighting Irish. Maybe a couple of trouble makers might want to start something, but it is too ingrained with the brand. You want to cause a revolt? Trying taking the name "Fighting Irish" away from alumni.

Robert E Lee's win pct was .681. Kelly's is .679. Both got their clocks cleaned in their biggest moments

PC crowd is running wild because they are allowed to. Entities need to stand firm for their symbols against such protests. If I keep pestering you for something, it's your fault when you give it to me

My neighbor is a Leprechaun and he loves the Trojans and the horse Traveler, the Seminoles and the horse Renegade and the Irish but fights a lot with his brother-in-law there. A real CFB fan!

I believe there was a little noise about "Fighting Irish" being culturally insensitive. That's when the university started their current PR campaign that we see on NBC, Fighting cancer, poverty, etc...

I thought it was a creative, effective, response.

I have a close friend who did one of those spots. His name is Prashn DeVisser and he is from Sri Lanka. He received his Masters in reconciliation from ND. It was a very effective spot. Still have the copy I downloaded of it. He also did one the the TED talks that were hosted on your campus.

Do you recall that one? Here is the link.

I did not recall that one. But I enjoyed watching it now. Thanks.

Go Irish. Beat Trojans.

(Had to throw that in, you know, we are The Fighting Irish)
