Given the fallout at Michigan State today, thought this would be interesting to hear some takes. Men who have served as head coaches only. I'll go first:

Joe Paterno as my George Washington

Bobby Petrino as my Thomas Jefferson

Mel Tucker as my Teddy Roosevelt

Urban Meyer as my Abraham Lincoln

I would make a motion to carve out another bust for Art Briles

Well you have 3 top contenders. You and many others are flat out wrong on Urban Meyer

Meyer is a hard driving competitive coach. I have never heard anything that is blatant and bad. He did not fit in the pro game. That’s his one true criticism

Briles is a heck of a coach and in todays game would not get touched by the weak inept NCAA

I see you are assuming Mel Tucker is guilty

Not going to do that over here

Bo Schembechler with his bum buddie Dr Anderson.

Then you haven’t been paying attention.

Sorry, Urban was a fraud. He professed respect of woman then did everything he could to hide all the assaults of his UF team. Did same with his asst coach at OSU.

Professed getting an education then pushed his players to take jock classes. Started at Utah.

Covered up for his players. Hernandez. Wilson. Cam Newton (until Cam’s roommates turned him in). Etc etc

Will agree he was damn competitive.

Bobby Petrino, is his crime having an affair with his secretary? Because if that’s it I’m not condoning cheating on your significant other but there are worse sins out there. Art Briles had “rape culture” at Baylor.

To be fair to Mel Tucker nothing has been proven yet.

Joe Pareto-did nothing to help children who desperately needed somebody to help them.

Urban Meyer-was more of a parole officer than a coach.

Art Briles-lead a gang of thugs.

Bobby Bowden-I know he died and everyone becomes a saint when they die but he was the Urban Meyer of the 90’s.

There’s other names that could easily go on this list at number 4, I struggled with my last name. Sweater-vest, Cheaty-Petey, Barry Switzer, Ron Meyer, Bobby Collins and Jermey Pruitt.

The times have changed, of course. But in his day, Ron Meyer orchestrated the Death Penalty for SMU. In terms of devastation to a program....it lasted longer, and did more damage to a program than did PSU's scandal.
