I posted elsewhere that Memorial Day weekend gives me pause to think about the sacrifices made by my dad and his generation in WWII, and yet I tend to pass over the sacrifices made by ALL our warriors before and since. Visited Wash DC last Fall for the first time as a tourist, and finally had time to see the various memorials. Damn, if visiting these doesn't make you proud and appreciative and somber for all the sacrifices made by all our Vets on our behalf. My wish for this weekend is for all Americans to recognize and appreciate that their sacrifices are what gives us the right and freedom to express our views, to argue and disagree on all things political, here and on college campuses and on TV and radio, etc... Those that shut down the give and take of political debate dishonor these men and women and their sacrifices.
