OT Scott Frost

Last night was so bad they realized it was worth 7.5 million to avoid the most awkward 21 days until his buyout dropped.

That's strange. I guess that just shows coaching is a strange beast. I believe he was always thought of highly as a progressive OC with a good track record, and then he did phenomenally well at UCF, at least for one season. And then he just couldn't get it done at Nebraska. And all he had to do was just be pretty good, he didn't need to win the Big Ten. And he couldn't manage even that, he couldn't get over the hump. And they were patient with him too, presumably because he's a favorite son, just like Tommy Rees.....

I guess the truth is he really wasn't a good coach, and certainly wasn't a proven one, and they only went undefeated because of old boy from Millilani HS! And as soon as you don't have awesome Hawaii QBs to carry you, you start to suck....

That somehow seems like an ominous sign, as far as MF's awful start....

Well, Nebraska is a different situation. I think the best players simply won't go there, even with academic accommodations. They've faded as a brand...and would take MAJOR effort to turn back around. It's beyond just coaching.

ND in contrast remains a powerful brand, a true blue blood. If academic accommodation happened, the best will come, players and coaches. And ND would be the once and future king of college football.

As it should be.

Nebraska could EASILY return to perennial top twenty status. Especially in the age of NIL. All they need to do is get a half-decent coach, up their NIL game so they're consistently getting top twenty classes, and then start winning!

That's really all there is to it. This is presuming they really do have the money and resources they're reputed to, and the willingness to exert them sufficiently....

Or they respected him enough to send him packing with his full 15 mill. Also sends a message they’re serious about being good at football not appeasing the bean counters who run the university.

don’t think the dude gave them the Ty willingham treatment just didn’t work out.. they’re finding their niche in a new conference without any of their old pipelines.

Nebraska sitting on a couple billion so it doesn’t break the bank either way.

I believe it is an NCAA rule that any coach that loses to Clay Helton must be fired.
actually, why did they fire the previous coach! that coaches residual effect must be incredible! Helton‘s effect has clearly not taken root yet! I heard that after the game the team all went out for ice cream and to see Cabaret
