I know this is a politics board but I would like to go off topic for a minute and discuss Irish football.
Will the new OC from Memphis have more power running and throwing to tight ends? I watched the Packers game last week and loved how Rogers was throwing the ball to their big tight end for big first downs. I also loved how the Cowboys used Ezekial Elliot running the ball.
Now that we have three studs in the backfield with Adams, Williams and Tony Jones and a studly and experienced Oline we should emphasize the run more but will the new OC do that? And with Alize Jones, ST. Brown, Durham Smythe and the two highly ranked freshman tightends and Miles Boykin we have some big targets Will the new OCactually have Brandon throw down the middle to the tight ends. The Will Fuller /Kevin Stepherson long bombs are great but we need more possession type throws and not just bubble screens and bombs. What say you guys? I reallydon't know much about the new OC.

Didn't know ND had a football team. I do know that Lou Holtz, Bobby Knight and the Great Jack Nicklaus voted for Donald J Trump.
All captured Isis animals should have to spend the night with Madonna and Rosie. That will be the proper deterrent to their horrific deeds.

Some top recruits may be democrats--- so shhhh. I know many inner city athletes follow my posts religiously.

ND should be Empty 25% of the time and 1 Back 3 WR 1 TE 60% of the time. Multiple TE just 15%. Thankfully BK will never use a modern FB because thats just stupid. I know the moron club will chime in with their uneducated opinions so let me break it down for the special needs circle.

FB's in the Flexbone old Wishbone, Veer and the Holtz Bone / Twin / I Veer were runners and pass recievers A Johnson, B Banks, Bettis, Zellers, Edwards.

The few modern day FB's left are glorifed OG who do nothing but block. You put a zero threat runner in your offensive backfield you are sending an engraved invitation to the other teams DC to put 8+ in the tackle box

Thats why teams took the FB out of the lineup and subbed in a Flex TE or 3WR. Motion out the RB and you are empty. Its called 21st Century offense and having a football IQ north of 40. Now can someone translate what i just said to the Sewing Circle because their collective football IQs are unfortunately <40

I think everything depends on the maturity of the offensive line. It all starts in the weight room. You can't send five Pillsbury Doughboy types out there to move around tough defensive linemen with bad intentions. Muscle + Mass + Experience + Heart = Effective Offensive Lineman.

I've always been a "use the running game to set up the passing game" kinda guy. Hopefully, our new OC will be allowed to do that.

With that said, I agree with Bodi that we have some big bodies for targets in the passing game.

I would love to see the offense run the football more but the OLine needs to step and don't have to perform like the Cowboys just better than we saw this past year.

I've read where the new OC like the power running game, and will put the QB under centrer if the situation called for it. He has said he used a 3 TE set too. I think Adams is going to have a great year and a great running game is a friend to a new QB. I hope the OLine is a good as advertised Bodi, but the defensive progress will be the key especially at the D Line and the pressure it can put on opposing QBs

Still clueless

I guess coach Shaw, and coach Saban (2014/2015) for starters are part of the moron club with the success coach Kelly has had maybe he should be stupid enough to use one
Your break down = 4-8 last season

From the little I've read, there are some noticeable differences in Long's offense. Here are my
Takeaways. We will be less predictable and we will seek to confuse and create one on one mismatches with creative shifts. We will excel at quick passes to the outside to fast shifty receivers who represent a threat each time to make these short passes big gainers, thus some of our late recruiting targets like Yeast and Hippenhammer. Screen passes and a heavy reliance on our tight ends will once again be part of our offensive identity. We will go under center occasionally, and from anywhere on the field as circumstances dictate, and multiple tight end sets will be commonplace. We will run an up tempo offense that averages 10-15 more plays per game than has been our experience under Kelly, but expect an increase in time of possession, not a decrease, similar to Clemson in this respect. The ratio of running plays to passing will be about the same, but look and feel much different, including the ability to effectively run both inside tackles and outside ends, etc... along with effective three tight end short yardage packages.

I don't know if ND has any "studs" in the backfield. I haven't seen it. I mean Adams looked pretty average last year, and Williams didn't look much better. Don't know about the other guys. Like many, I suppose, we want to believe last year was somehow and aberration. But, a 4-8 team is a 4-8 team. A big turn around still leaves them barely a top 25 team, but not anywhere near a contender for a national title. We shall see.

Hey, man, you don't talk to FloridaIrish.. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say "hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "Do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm... no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man! I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...
