Had quite the run at Georgia, had some really good teams with David Greene, Mathew Stafford and Aaron Murray at QB. Had some prolific RB’s their too, Gurley, Moreno and a couple more. Richt could never relalcate that formula at the U. One thing that goes unnoticed by Mark Richt is he was an out spoken critic of oversigning and gray shirting, plus his grad rate at Ga was higher than most SEC schools. Sadly Mark Richt will be most remembered for not being able to get over the hump and win “the big game”. Just could never seem to get by Fl or Alabama

Excellent post

Wow. I figured he was the answer at Miami for a few years to come. If he can't do it at Miami, who can?

Richt was lazy, period. He actually skipped two a days one August at Georgia and had the team watch film instead. It was October before the defense could tackle that season. His average final ranking in the polls was about 10 spots lower than his average recruiting ranking. In short, he underperformed with the talent he had. He squandered a full year of Knowshon Moreno by redshirting him to play lesser backs. He always put seniority before talent.

Richt had a poorly disciplined team, on and off the field. Georgia consistently started seasons with 4-5 key players suspended, and was routinely the most penalized team in the SEC.

Richt was guilty of nepotism, allowing the best man from his wedding to remain as DC when the defense was horrible. In Miami, he appointed his son to be QB coach.

Richt's good reputation is a product of the press. He kept Georgia fans at each other's throats for a decade.

He took the Miami job out of spite. He was disinterested in the game long before then, but his pride was hurt when Georgia fired him.
