Getting booted from the Sunbelt Conference seems to have been the final straw. At least a dozen other schools should follow their lead.

If your athletic programs are losing money at the expense of the school's academics, then the boosters and alums need to put their ego aside and do what's best for the school. Robbing academic Peter to pay athletic Paul isn't working. See Eastern Michigan.

It is about time that universities started to get a grip on athletics. The first question should always be whether it provides a benefit to students and, if so, does it make financial sense. I truly hope that a lot of FBS schools follow suit.

Paul wasn't that athletic. He fell off a horse, for Christ's sake...

Good move for them. Any school in D1 that hasn't manage to win a unanimous national championship since at least 1950 should join them.

Paul survived a major shipwreck in a huge storm. That makes him an automatic qualifier in my opinion.

So it's time for Michigan to schedule and lose to Idaho? Whatever you girls do, don't punt in the last few seconds. Unless of course, you're already getting your rears handed to you, App State style.

Quick check shows Idaho's best season was back in 1971 with an 8-3 record. They actually won a bowl game as recent as 2009 but their program has been inconsistent at best, dismal at worst, dating back almost 100 years. They did beat La Monroe last season, who in turn held Alabama to 34 points. So, they have that going for themselves. I do feel for the players who put in the work and see no results.

I think they will all be allowed to transfer without sitting out. The NCAA should do away with that sitting out rule. If coaches can leave at any moment, the same should hold for the players.
