According to MLB Trade Rumors, Jose Quintana just signed a one-year free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates for $2 million. His career has fallen off the map since he went 33-23 with the Cubs from 2017-2020. For a left hander who will only turn 33 yrs of age in January, that is quite the comedown.

The Cubs of course gave up their two top-prospects for Quintana. Quintana appears to be a good guy and it is not his fault that Theo and the boys overrated him. The Cubs thought they were getting a low #1 or high #2 starter in that trade. Instead, Quintana turned out to be only a middle of the rotation starter at best.
