1) PSU (Undefeated) against ALA (Had only one loss, which was early in the year to USC – I remember watching that game on TV) in the Sugar Bowl. ALA made the famous goal line stand to win the game. While that game was low scoring, it was physical, intense, hard hitting, old school game, between two extremely well coached teams. PSU was the more talented team, but Bryant (I loved The BEAR) out coached Paterno (I hated him – Nasty, vindictive man, who hated ND) in that game.
2) NEB (Undefeated) against Miami (1 loss – First game of the year) in the Orange Bowl game. A number 1 NEB team lost the game because they went for the two point conversion (Instead of kicking the extra point to take the tie which would of still allowed them to win the NC). NEB was the heavy favorite, led by the 3 triplets (Gill, Rozier, Fryar) but Miami led by the great HC Howard S (Very underrated) and FROSH QB Bernie Kosar, out coached and outplayed NEB. This was a really great game, one in which the Canes jumped out to a big lead but NEB made a big comeback that just game up short at the end (The Failed two point conversion – I give Osborne a lot of credit for going for 2).
3) Miami against Ohio-ST (both undefeated teams) in the Fiesta Bowl. Ohio-ST won this great (It went back and forth) game (With some help of a controversial pass interference call) in multiple overtimes . Miami, was consider the heavy favorite (They were loaded with talent. Winslow, Willis McGahee, Andre Johnson) but Ohio-ST won the game because their players never gave up and because Jim Tressel (Good coach, I always liked him as a coach and he is a better person then that POS URBAN) out coached Larry Corker.
4) USC against Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl (both undefeated teams) – Both Teams had a lot of NFL Drafted Talent (USC – Bush, White, Jarret, Matt Leinart, Dominique Byrd, Winston Justice, Ryan Kalil, Steve Smith. Texas - Vince Young, Mike Huff, Justin Blalock, Aaron Ross, Michael Griffin, Jamaal Charles) and it showed in the game. This was a great back and forth game, and Texas won because Vince Young was unstoppable (One of the best performances that I have ever seen in a college football game) and because Pete Carroll went for it on 4 – 2 (USC got stopped and Texas got great field position), instead of punting the ball and forcing Texas to drive the length of the field. While I never though Mack Brown was a great coach, I always root for him (Great guy) and I was happy to see USC lose because they cheated (BUSH-Gate, Pete Carroll (great HC), their AD Mike Garrett (Arrogant POS) and the USC staff, all broke the rules) and they deserved the penalty they got a few years after that game.
5) AUB (1 loss early in the year to LSU) against FSU (Undefeated) in the 2014 Rose Bowl. While FSU, had the much more talented team (by NFL standards), AUB (For the most part), Outplayed and Outcoached (Gus Mazhan is a really good HC) FSU, in a game that went back and forth. The 4TH quarter was especially great (I have to Say that even though Winston is a POS, he showed a great deal of poise for RFROSH on that last drive to win the game for FSU, with just seconds left on the clock)
