The schizophrenia is maddening! Was the real ND team playing UT or did they go on the road to UVA?!?

With all the issues on offense, they still scored 34 after leaving a pile of points on the field. I'm going to assume that the defensive staff spent UVA week looking ahead to the triple option and go with my heart over my head.

Ga. Tech -- 30
ND -- 34

The weather looks like it will be poor on Saturday, but it probably won't be as bad as BVG's defense. Kizer will hang tough. However, he'll commit a costly turnover at some point. Paul Johnson will have his team ready that's for sure. He absolutely despises ND. Does Kelly want the win as bad as PJ? I'm tired of watching this defense getting smoked. Last week was ugly. Step it up fellas!

My heart pick is different then my head as well. I'll pin my hopes to bks record with tr and rs fr at qb and hope they find a way to outscore gt, and because they couldn't be any worse than last week on 3rd down:

41-38 ND

I hope we don't have to depend on a FG to win this game. I pretty much agree with everyone so far. Until ND loses, I go with them. James Brown from "Inside College Football" is the only analyst who has picked the Irish to win as far as I know.

gonna wait till later in the week to decide;
stopping the run is a must but watching the middle LB play and schemes last week I thought ND might make adjustments. Does not sound that way. Has Joe Schmidt become Kelly's TR for the defense?

What a stupid comment .. "Has Joe Schmidt become Kelly's TR ...". Seems to me the coaches know the players better than we do, and it was clear by his direct answer In his presser that JS is simply better than the backup (NM). And for the record TR did an outstanding job for ND, had an outstanding career.

What a surprise that this alleged ND fan would pick against ND.

I can't rationally see how we slow down G Tech with our current coordinator, and without Malik, I don't think we can outscore them. Hope to hell I'm wrong.

I believe a ND win will depend on 2 things:

1.) If the defensive scheme is up to snuff and fully prepared to deal with all the possibilities.

2.) The freshman QB plays smart and lights out.........tough assignment.

But, if those two things click ND could win by out scoring GT in a shoot out.
With the above all working ND 38, GT 35.

Without the two things above working GT 42, ND 28.

Yooper I understand your point. The injury bug has hit the irish hard, I just believe the irish have more talent then GT. too me it s obvious if we have a few good stops maybe a turnover and VG shows us that it can be done. By the way our inside run d is very good its the outside that is not doing the job. That is all VG not the players. So that has to be addressed. The offense will be fine as long as our new QB does not turn the ball over

I was watch the video of GT last 2 games.I think ND will not tackles GT's runs because the offense line will run and block them. No Zaire.

This program has, by and large, been incompetent in stopping the option, and that was against a team in Navy with very little actual football skill. Now we play a team that has perfected this style with real talent. On top of that, Paul Johnson will bring his A-game as he did while at Navy, and you can bet he will have some tricks up his sleeves that we will be unprepared for.

Our offense is better than the 24 points predicted but opportunities will be limited. Don't expect 10 or more possessions when GT is hogging the ball while we struggle to stop them. Expect plenty of 4th down attempts as well as GT puts maximum pressure on both our defense and new QB.

An opening drive TD for GT and a subsequent 3 and out for us will spell big trouble. The room for error will be very small for Kizer and that is too much to ask from a rookie.

I feared this game before the season began and loathe it now that the injury bug has bitten us so bad.

Defensive coaches learn a lot about the triple option the first time that they encounter it. The good ones learn and adapt. BVG is supposed to be good and has the horses to back that up. The 'Wreck' will get theirs but so will ND. If the D does not get frustrated with giving up some plays then this could be a 10 point win for the Irish but I think that it will be closer.
ND - 31
GT - 30

You can add it to his large collection of stupidity.

Unless they were looking past UVA, and are saving some things for GT (I seriously doubt it), I think ND gets rolled in this game, especially if the weather is poor.

I feel like ND needs to get off to a fast start and put a lot of points up. Historically, option teams have trouble playing from behind because they are forced to score quickly to keep pace, which is not their style. Though GT is a different animal and can score more quickly than your average option offense.

Ah heck I don't know. It really depends on which ND teams comes onto the field and if the coaches are truly ready for this game or not.

I think our boys get it done. They all rally around Kizer and play like Champions.

Hope I am wrong. Uncertainty at QB and poor play of D last week.

You hit the nail on the head... uncertainty at QB and no defense. What sucks as well is this game, win or lose, does very little to help us the rest of the year on defense except when we play Navy.

To be fair there is no rule that's says you have to pick ND, it's your prediction, and let's face it GT is coming off a New Years Six bowl win with a coach who has done well against ND. Plus the fact ND is missing it's starting QB, two RB's starting TE, oh and one of their best D-linmen. It's a lot to overcome. ND is not Ohio State, ND does not let in thugs, criminals gangsters like Urban does at O$U, they don't have the depth from over signing and than running an NFL minicamp forcing guys out, nor do they want to be.
