Offensive threat that I can't wait to see

I'm surprised no one mentioned the two back set we saw last week against Temple. It's been awhile since we've seen that around here. Maybe we'll see the straight "T" inside the five like Lou used to do.

Ssshhhhhhh!!!!!!
If you bring it up too much, someone might notice how awesome it was and how it actually worked. Then we won't see it again for another 15 years.

Smythe and Mack are excellent TEs, but don't forget the proverbial underdog - Nic Weisher. He had an outstanding game last week. ND is truly loaded at TE like never before. I sure the IRISH were that loaded on the DL.

the full house backfield? Did that ever work?

Adams/Dex, St Brown and Stepherson outside and 2 tight with Smythe and Mack.

Well -- You won't see Stepherson......

As far as Adams/Dex -- saw the point below from an article on the home page -- this cannot be stated enough -- and, as much as the coaching staff spoke all off season about being physical at the LOS --

The third and final point is the biggest, Notre Dame’s line must set the tone with its physicality. It must take the fight to Georgia and not be reactive to what Georgia does. If Notre Dame can be the stronger and more physical team it will have a very good chance of winning.

We saw two TEs, three TEs, four TEs with one playing fullback, and a wide variety of offensive sets. We'll see a lot of multiple TE sets to help on the right edge on passing. Like most big games, but especially one with two teams that need a good running attack, the war will likely be won or lost at the line of scrimmage. Not one to DVR the games, but will this time, as I will want to rewatch with total focus on line play. Should be a very good test and barometer for our team.

I say we bring all 5 TE's in, and let Wimbush go wildcat or five wide empty backfield depending on how Georgia substitutes..

^^^That's not a serious proposition.

I just want to see more of the multiple TE sets and power game.

The correct question is "Did it ever not work?"

Even as a lad watching on rabbit ears I knew it wasn't working. It's inferior to a traditional wishbone because the fullback is completely cramped in the former.

We might have had a coach or two find some success with it.

I was referring specifically to when Holtz used it in goal line situations. Automatic TD on first or second play.

Would like to see TE in the backfield and let him sneak out into the flats. Nice safe pass and sure to get 4-5 yards (hopefully).
